Product Description

Finding clear yet concise information on a subject as perplexing as taxation can be daunting especially with the copiousness and complexity of material available. Shrewd tax planning can reduce your year on year tax liability as well as ensuring that CGT and IHT are reduced and your pension is maximised.

The new 2007-08 edition of the Tax Handbook continues the tradition of accessible and comprehensive coverage of all aspects of taxation. Fully revised and updated, this edition incorporates all the latest changes following the Finance Act 2007, offering sound practical advice on self-assessment and the entries in your Tax Return on a line-by-line basis.

It provides detailed information on the complete range of taxes including CGT, VAT, stamp duty, IHT and national insurance, plus pension planning and property investment etc.

In addition, the 2007-08 edition will have an accompanying website that will incorporate any changes to tax following the budget announcement, as well as quarterly updates.

Written by Tony Foreman and Gerald Mowles both experts within the field, for both the professional and non-professional, the Tax Handbook provides detailed information on the complete range of taxes from a variety of different angles - whether you're employed, self-employed, UK based, or an expat.

What if there was just one answer to every tax question?

The Zurich Tax Handbook is the most up-to-date, authoritative and user-friendly tax guide on the market, an essential annual purchase for advisers and investors alike.

Taxation law and legislation by its very nature is complex and difficult to understand. Many sources of information simply reproduce legislation in its obscure and unfriendly language, but the Zurich Tax Handbook explains every aspect of taxation in a simple and accessible manner, providing worked examples, checklists and tax hints to save you money. This year, a new accompanying website will keep readers up-to-date with any changes, such as major tax judgments or Revenue decisions, that occur between Budgets.

Fully revised and updated, this edition incorporates all the latest changes, offering sound practical advice on self-assessment, pension planning, stamp duty and property investment.

Key changes as a result of the Finance Act are situated prominently at the front of the book for quick reference and a list of abbreviations, comprehensive glossary and index ensure the book’s accessibility.

Anthony Foreman is a Tax Partner with PKF, one of the ten largest firms of Chartered Accountants in the UK. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Taxation and has specialised in tax planning for 30 years.

Gerald Mowles is a tax consultant who specialises in personal tax planning, especially for US and other foreign nationals who are resident in the UK.

Readers can access the accompanying website:

for relevant and up-to-date changes that occur throughout the year between Budgets.

Useful tax guide 17 Mar 2010

Annual publication, in my opinion the best for someone with a good basic background in tax dealing with their own or family tax affairs. Not enough for the professional tax advisor, but more detailed than the general run of tax books aimed at the taxpayer. Covers National Insurance as well.
