5.0 out of 5 stars This is SFX kung fu at its best (and weirdest), 3 Dec 2001
By A Customer
This is without a doubt one of the greatest films ever made. Although the plot is slightly confusing to begin with, it is worth bearing with it as you will be treated to some of the greatest and most unique fight sequences ever seen.
Buy this film, if not for the weirdness then for the excellently elaborate sequences.

5.0 out of 5 stars the original mystic version of china, 10 April 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Zu Warriors from Magic Mountain [DVD] (DVD)
the story is based how a once coward becomes the chosen warrior to defend the earth against evil.
i watched this film when i was little and loved it then, the dvd version i have from the states is pretty simple but its just, the story which is fantastic. it tackles the age old story of good versus evil with love sacrifice and mystical poweres shoved in. even if you didn't like crouching tiger this is still a great film to watch and own just for the acting and special effects. above all just watch the movie you won't be dissapointed i wasn't

5.0 out of 5 stars A weird and wonderful Hong Kong masterpiece, 23 July 2000
By A Customer
ZU is the Hong Kong film that everyone should see. This little gem lifted Tsui Hark from obscurity to being one of the most prominent film makers in Asia. Admittedly the plot can be a little difficult to follow at times and the special effects are dated in places but there is action, comedy and absurdity in huge amounts. How can you fail to love a film where Sammo Hung plays a character called Long Brows who traps the evil Blood Monster using (you guessed it!) an enormous pair of extended eyebrows? If you've seen the likes of A Chinese Ghost Story or The Bride With White Hair, don't miss the antics of Yuen Biao and the rest of the Magic Mountain gang in ZU.
