After having a brief encounter with a Lenovo Windows 8.1 laptop (which was returned), I spotted this "deal" for a Zoostorm i5 desktop with Windows 10 already installed. It arrived the next day (via Prime) and was working 20 minutes after unpacking (the only minor delay was that Windows 10 couldn't find my WiFi and I had to set that up manually).

I needed a second computer as a backup for my nice bespoke i7 (Windows 7) system and this Zoostorm system appears to be ideal. Windows 10 certainly does not seem as intuitive as Windows 7 (there seems to be a lot of white space on all the screens!) but I've managed to find my way around fairly easily. The hardware's basic but perfectly functional. It's nice and quiet and the i5 is certainly no laggard.

I was especially pleased to see no "bloatware", "trial offers" or malware such as was on the Lenovo. The first thing I did was download AVG's Internet Security software (I've got a 2 year / 4 computers version) and that found nothing to report. Then Firefox and Thunderbird so that I can synch my browsing history and emails. There's still lots of programs to instal but that's just a chore that one's always having to face with a new computer.

I did have one scare though. I connected up a pair of external speakers and got a violently flashing screen (I've since found out that it's a known Windows 10 problem) and was totally locked out of the system. I forced the computer to shut down (by holding down the on/off button) and when I started it up again everything was OK. I realised that it's probably not a good idea to instal new devices when a Windows 10 system is running, better to do it when it's off.

Paul.

This was a bargain on one of Amazon's special days (I forget the name!). My son wanted a computer on which to edit 1080p movies and is a major step up from a 4/5 year old Compaq in terms of speed. He and I are getting to grips with Windows 10! The Zoostorm is quiet, has "on board" graphics, decent memory and a decent hard disk. I failed to notice the lack of a SD card reader, but this doesn't detract from the bargain!

Basically a good machine so far. I bought it without an o/s and got Windows7 professional separately. Works well. An annoying niggle was the DVD button on the front panel, which required so much pressure I was pushing the whole machine away. Taking the front panel off and bending the plastic button in a few mm solved it, but it is a very cheap, nasty method of operation.

So glad that I bought a Windows 10 model straight out of the box - a friend of mine had issues when they were upgrading their old machine.

Bought this on a "black friday" deal to replace an older PC I was using for Linux-based gaming & flight simulator. I went straight for installing my Linux system of choice, Lubuntu 14.10 64Bit. The computer itself while feeling light is in fact quite well constructed, with metal case sides & a slot for adding a second hard disk. My only minor gripe is that while there are spare SATA ports on the board, they only provide 2x SATA power cables from the power supply - both of which are used (1x for hard disk, 1x for cd drive) which means using an adaptor if you want to power a second hard disk. Performance is as expected, 3.1GHz Core i5 and 8GB of RAM running a modern open source 64Bit operating system gives plenty of power and, perhaps surprisingly, the inbuilt Intel graphics perform better than when I tried the dedicated 2GB Nvidia card I was using in the older PC. All in all an excellent purchase. X-Plane 64Bit for Linux is nice and smooth, as is my favourite blaster Team Fortress 2 (via Steam for Linux) I cannot however comment on this computer's performance with its supplied Windows operating system, as I chose to erase it in favour of an open source alternative.

Very pleased with the PC as it suits my requirements very well but find the Windows 7 operating system very unstable as it frequently fails when the PC left in "sleep" mode.

Amazing value, incredibly close to what it would cost to build it yourself. Fantastic base to build on and tailor for your needs.
