5.0 out of 5 stars Five Star Value 5 Nov 2012
By Gaz
For the price there's no way anyone could complain about this device. Build is good (if a little heavy) and the screen is responsive. Connectivity includes USB and HDMI, with a separate charging port, together with WiFi and headphones jack. No Bluetooth, but I rarely used that on previous devices. One thing I do miss is the GPS chip, but for the price I wouldn't expect the perfect spec.

It does have a micro SD memory slot - sadly missing from much more expensive offerings. I use the tablet extensively for reading and watching videos, as well as light gaming. The screen is excellent. Clear & bright. Viewing angles may not be great, but it's a personal tablet - I'm not sharing it with anyone so there no worries.

I'm really pleased with this device. The spec isn't perfect, but I've yet to find a model that is. I'm not paying 200 for a tablet that doesn't allow memory upgrades, or even 400 for one tied to proprietary management software!!

Like I say - five star value.

4.0 out of 5 stars Basic but brilliant! 25 Oct 2012

Disclaimer: This is my first tablet so i can't compare to other devices.

Appearance - Glossy front including bevels, matt sides and back (Zoostorm logo on back), camera located in one of the front corners. Nicely weighty, doesn't feel at all flimsy, nice looking but a little plain.

Connectivity - DC charging port (mains charger included), micro USB port, mini HDMI port, microSD card slot, headphone port, microphone aperture and two speaker apertures. There is also a reset pinhole, charging light and four side buttons.

Operation - A long press on the power button to start it up from cold then a 20 second boot sequence (waking the tablet up from warm is nigh instantaneous though). I am a beginner to Android (this has 4.0.3 ICS for reference) but it is very intuitive for someone who is already computer literate, the luddites may need a little assistance initially though. The WiFi and tablet settings reside with the clock in a windows-familiar 'system tray' in the bottom right corner, but placing the WiFi settings on the 'desktop' is beneficial if you will be connecting to many different wireless connections. There are a few standard applications already loaded (Facebook, Twitter, Google News, Google Books, Movie Player, Music Player, Skype) but many other free and paid applications are available from the google play store (top right corner). A google account is practically a prerequisite to using these devices, so register beforehand, then log in on your tablet. N.B. This tablet doesn't have GPS functionality and the camera is of webcam quality.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great value 21 Nov 2012
By Alicia
I am really impressed with this Tablet - the screen is great quality, much better than I expected. For a good value tablet where your budget does not extend to an ipad I highly reccomend this great device.

5.0 out of 5 stars Top value budget tablet 25 Nov 2012

A sturdy neat tablet giving great value for money. Very user friendly if you have some experience with android tablets but there is a need for a better user guide to help the novice. Apart from this minor point I am delighted with this little tablet, full marks frpm me.
UPDATE after a few months the tablet started freezing at frequent intervals. Pressing the reset cured the problem but it soon recurred. Then one day the reset switch failed to have any effect. The tablet remains frozen to this day.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent value but not an iPad-killer 28 Nov 2012
Verified Purchase
I bought this partly because it was a lot of kit for 80, and I wanted a tablet that could show web-sites with Flash, which Apple steadfastly refuses to do.

I was pleased with how easy the Zoostorm was to set up and get connected to both my Wifi networks.

It's small and convenient for looking things up by the TV, and I expect to make use of the HDMI connectivity. It's very good to have a micro-SD to extend data storage.

Altogether, it's a nice little tablet, though I've had difficulty with:
1) YouTube. This appears to install OK, but when I start it, a dialogue box pops up to say "Unfortunately, YouTube has stopped" (it's working fine on my iPad!).
2) Calendar. I tell the Calendar app all about my Google calendar, but it won't synchronize. The Google calendar shows up fine in the browser, using exactly the same sign-on information.
3) Microphone is totally inadequate. If I want to use Skype, I'll need a plug-in headset.
4) Speaker is too feeble to use this as an internet radio/NPR player. It's OK through headphones or an external amplifier, though you'll have to turn the gain up more than for most devices (including iPod). BBC iPlayer needs a helper application, but works OK once you've installed it.

But remember, this tablet only cost me 80 from amazon.co.uk, and for the price, it's first class.
