At the heart of the FinePix M603 lies Fujifilm's unique 1/1.7-inch third-generation Super CCD sensor. Employing 3.1 million effective pixels, this sensor delivers an ultrahigh quality 2,832 x 2,128 recording pixels (6.03 million) for rich tonality, high signal-to-noise ratio and natural colour reproduction. A newly developed LSI image-processing algorithm further contributes to superb image quality, whether you are shooting still photographs or VGA movies.
The camera features a 2x optical zoom lens and 4.4x digital zoom for an 8.8x total. Its focal length of 8.7-17.4 mm is equivalent to 38-76 mm on a 35 mm camera. In addition to its outstanding still photography capabilities, the FinePix M603 offers advanced "motion photo" VGA-size full-frame movie recording and playback capabilities. Fujifilm's horizontal/vertical pixel-mixing technology, made possible by the Super CCD's unique interwoven pixel arrangement, enables VGA-size (640 x 480 pixels) movie recording at 30 frames per second, including sound. Other video options include VGA-size movie recording at 15 frames per second or QVGA-size (320 x 240) at 15 frames per second. The FinePix M603 offers full zoom functions and continuous autofocus on moving subjects during recording, providing the same freedom and creative control enjoyed by digital video camcorders.
Instead of conventional CCDs with square photodiodes and pixel arrangements, Fuji's Super CCD has octagonal-shaped photodiodes and pixels situated on 45-degree angles. This "honeycomb" pattern increases sensitivity, allowing pixels to be efficiently packed at maximum density. The area of the photodiode in a half-inch Super CCD with 2 million pixels is about 1.6 times as large as the area offered in the conventional CCD with the same number of pixels. The Super CCD improves overall signal-to-noise ratio and offers a much wider dynamic range.
Compatible with both xD-Picture Card and IBM Microdrive, the FinePix M603 is fully equipped to take advantage of the latest developments in high-capacity storage. Up to 15 minutes of high-quality video can be stored on a single 1 GB Microdrive (30 minutes at 15 fps). In still-camera mode, the FinePix M603 provides high-speed continuous shooting for capturing sequences of up to four frames at 0.2 second intervals. A handy voice memo function lets you record up to 30 seconds of audio (in WAV format) that can be attached to any image file. The oversize 2.5-inch LCD monitor boasts 118,000 pixels for high-resolution viewing during both shooting and playback. Included with the FinePix M603 is a detachable monitor hood that increases screen visibility in daylight as well as protecting the monitor.
The camera is powered by a rechargeable lithium-ion battery NP-60 (included). It measures 2.5 by 3.7 by 1.2 inches and weighs 7.4 ounces. This package includes the FinePix M603 digital camera, battery, AC adapter, USB and AV cables, hand strap, hand grip, LCD monitor hood and CD-ROM with FinePix Viewer and ImageMixer video software as well as USB drivers for Windows and Mac.

First impressions: a lot of boxes with a lot of cables, an excellent manual and buried in there this silver brushed boxy beauty!
What do I like? Well the ease of use, you can figure out most of the functionality without the manual (and the manual is very good too!). The 2.5" LCD screen is superb and although a clever spring loaded hood is provided, to be honest even in sunlight you can still see what you are taking with ease, and if you're really pushed why not use your other hand? The extra grip is superfluous if you, as most do, hold the camera with both hands. The quality of the stills is excellent, and if you go for the premium kit with the 512Mb microdrive there's no reason not to leave it on 6 million/fine always (you can always chop things down later). The video quality is very good too, some have compared it to VHS quality, I'd say it was closer to S-VHS or better. And it's dead easy to download stills & movies to your PC (unlike Digital Video Cameras you don't have to press play etc. you can just drag and drop the files: so much more sophisticated!).
What don't I like? The docking cradle is overbalanced by the USB & power cable coming out the side, they should be out the back. Not too many options on picture resolution. Flimsy storage media door.
Some have complained about the lack of more advanced Manual options but when I think what my Sony offered and what I actually used I can't say I miss them. If you want a pro camera then get one, the rest of us will be perfectly fine with this!

I like- The sharp looks, the lens coming out from the camera (very james bond!), great photos at 3+ megapixels, the two memory card option (compact flash and xD), the film mode, the 2.5" screen, the cradle very useful.
I dislike- the small zoom (if your looking to take pictures of wildlife or scenery buy a digital SLR i.e. Fuji S3000, this is a fun camera.), the cradle is a little unbalanced when camera is not in it, some of the movie modes (e.g. the movie mode is only decent in 640x480 mode, 30fps mode is VHS quality when watched on 25" TV, 340 x 240 mode is only good when watched on camera screen poor on a TV)the movie mode is bad in poor light. but what can you exppect?
Overall an extremly versatile camera. A word of warning if you plan to take lots of video then get at least a 256 Mb card, more if you can.
All in all it's a good buy...
