I've been playing guitar for 20 years more off than on it must be said. In that time, I purchased a number of pedals at aroung £50 none of which had a power supply included.
Whether this device is as good in one area as the BOSS equivalent pedal, I don't know, but to have 54 effects for the price of 1 pedal is amazing value for money.
If, like me, you are dabbling and want a selection of pedals, then this is an ideal starter which also includes the tuner function, drum machine and mains power supply.
On a negative, if you want to get the most out of it, you are going to have to learn how to use it properly, which will take some doing. That said, you can get some interesting stuff by quickly plugging in an going.
Oh and a last point, plug in your headphones and you don't need to amp the device!

For years now I have used a combination of foot pedals, and decided to stop sodding around and purchase an all-in-one effects pedal. My initial feelings are that I should have done it years ago as I am loving every minute with my new toy!
Easy and fun to use with some varied, top quality sounds. The backing drum patterns are useful for timings and individual practice.
Overall excellent value for money and I am especially pleased with what it has to offer.

fun little unit with some really useable effects.
I have used this as a quick easy processor for recording guitar in my little home studio its quiet enough and the effects are good quality enough to be all i need.
The fact it can run on bateries is also very usefull for gigs where its just so much easier to plug a couple of guitar cables in and your away.
really suprised at how useful the built in drum machine is too, it has about 40 different grooves ranging from straight up rock in 4/4 to 3/4 and 12/8 grroves aswell as latin styles and a slightly lumpy swing feel.
the sampled sounds are pretty convincing and i use this as an alternative to a mentrognome for practice, much easier to sit there and play with for a couple of hours than an annoying click!
battery life is excellent too, my advice would be get a good quality set of rechargables.
