As with Ian's first two books, LEAP!: Ditch Your Job, Start Your Own Business & Set Yourself Free and Juggle! Rethink Work, Reclaim your Life, this book (co-written with David Sloly) will have a big impact on me. The previous two books have had an influence in where I find my self today. I now work for a startup who's focus is something I'm passionate about. My role is one that I really wanted, I helped define and encompasses the things I enjoy and want to do. And I live and work in a way that I'm comfortable with, incorporates my passions and makes me happy.

This book couldn't have come at a better time for me. Whilst reading it I could reflect on my experiences of a failed startup as well as looking at how the startup I'm involved with now are doing things. It's making me ask questions and make suggestions. In fact it does this so often I kept finding myself putting the book down to send out an email, write down some notes, write a blog post or start a discussion. Not only is it useful and interesting retrospectively it also addresses things we have yet to consider, ideas we've not yet put into action and introduced new ideas. You can tell the book is written by Ideas guys as it's brimming with them.

A great book for anyone starting out in business for the first time. In fact, its also a timely reminder for some seasoned entrepreneurs. Zoom gives solid practical advice and helps start-ups focus on the important stuff and not get distracted.

The authors clearly set out to practise what they preach in writing Zoom. It is direct, down to earth and full of energy. Each chapter combines practical suggestions with contributions from entrepreneurs who have already 'walked the path'. Although some of the concepts were familiar to me, there were plenty of new nuggets. The style is simple and readable - almost casual - and this leaves you with no excuses for inertia and procrastination. I can see myself continuing to dip into it over the coming weeks when in need of motivation!

Authors Ian Sanders and David Sloly have crafted a punchy, practical and accessible resource for anyone looking to start their own business. Divided into concise chapters that specifically target different aspects of launching a new business, the focus is on breaking the process down into manageable chunks and essentially simplifying the journey from idea to execution. It also features a series of interesting case studies from recognisable companies at the end of each chapter, so you can see real stories of how people turned their ideas into reality by using similar principles outlined in the book.

The book's subtitle `a faster way to make your business ideas happen' is extremely apt; the advice being given here is on getting things done, rather than getting bogged down with business theory or spending an eternity planning every single detail. As the authors point out- in today's fast-paced, ever changing digital age, there is simply no guarantee that months of planning are effective in making your business successful. Instead, it's better to get stuck in, get yourself out there and worry about the little details later on.

Although many of the principles identified in 'Zoom' are not revolutionary, for example- keeping things simple, taking action, avoiding procrastinating on every task (the section on making any decision in 60 seconds is particularly useful however!), the authors do succeed in elevating this book above a lot of other business guides or resources in the same genre. In fact it is to both writers' credit that they make it so accessible to the reader. Even though I found it a quick and easy read, I still felt that I had taking in a lot of very useful information.

Practical advice on how to get a new idea up and running. If you are a new business or an old hand, you can get help from Zoom. The authors show that they tried and tested all the advice given. With helpful tips from various entrepeneurs they have met whilst researching this book, you gain not only the authors help but that of proven success stories. Whiles other business books tell you how you might achieve success, this book puts you on the road and shows you how to get there.

An excellent insight into how a small business works. A small business is not a miniature version of a large one, so don't treat it that way. Thanks to David Sloly for this book.
