Book Description

31 Mar 2010
How do you fight a zombie if you are armed with only a shovel and are being pursued down a street? How can you raise a body of like minded individuals to defend your territory or to expand during the Zompoc? What is the Zompoc and what is a zombie? This book was written to answer these questions and much more. Many books recommend particular weapon types but they are always described by those with no experience of these items. As well as providing information we think is important we also offer more specific advice and guidance based upon the many questions we received from the readers of our first book. In Zompoc: How to Survive a Zombie Apocalypse (HTSAZA) we covered all the key areas that would be of concern with regards to survival, basic combat and overall strategies for the apocalypse. Some of the most popular parts of the book were the sections on long term survival and on the specifics of weapons and tactics when fighting zombies. It was with these points in mind that we produced this new additional to the Zompoc library.

5.0 out of 5 stars A 'Must Have' for serious zombie fans! 24 Nov 2010
By Bobkat
Format:Paperback
Zompoc 2 is the second book by the Thomas Bros and is hugely informative and entertaining. It has obviously been painstakingly researched and draws on their vast knowledge of martial arts and weapons. As leading martial arts instructors in their fields, these guys know what they are talking about and it comes across in the book.

The book covers a huge range of weapon types including close range (swords, axes, spears, knives, shields etc.) and ranged weapons (firearms, cross bows and long bows) and covers the pros and cons of using them. It also covers different armour types and tactics for fighting zombies in different situations and environments.

I have actually read the book and would recommend any serious (and non serious) zombie fan to add it to their bookshelf.

1.0 out of 5 stars LamePoc: Part 2 24 Nov 2010
By C&E
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Having released quite possibly the worst zombie book ever in Zompoc, the authors now turn their attention to the more specialised subject of the right weapons for the increasingly popular end-of-the-world scenario of the Zombie Apocalypse. Sadly, this is let down by several factors, the most obvious of which is that they seem to know nothing about weapons. Instead, what we have is an excuse for some middle-aged bikers to pose ludicrously with somebody's airsoft collection, monkey-metal melee weapons from Battle Orders, and bits of tactical gear picked up in the Army and Navy Store (the photos of which are then converted using PhotoShop and an attempt made to pass them off as drawings).

Like the first book, the standard of English couldn't be worse if they'd given Bub from Day of the Dead a keyboard. So, let the "not useful" ratings begin!

3.0 out of 5 stars A group strategy book, could have used a much larger chapter on hand weapons 3 May 2011

This book is very good and indepth at telling you the meaning of various military strategies and terminology, but ends up coming across more as a dictionary. I ended up remembering the bad more than the good.

Like another reviewer noted the editing was very choppy. There were numerous references to illustrations that were not present. This editing style reminded me of a school/university project where there is a deadline, so if you don't have it right by then, you just submit it. When you're publishing a book I expect higher standards- not submitting it until you have had it proofread by outside people a number of times. (Note my writing style of this review is not perfect, but I'm not writing a book).

There was no indepth discussion on armour like another reviewer mentioned.

I liked the chapters giving information on forming a militia, and on tactics.

I was expecting large chapters on each specific weapon and how to use them, with clear diagrams of specific strikes, like you find in martial arts technique books, or Roger Ma's Zombie book. That didn't occur.

I disagree with their appraisal of the efficacy of Cold Steel two handed machetes. I own and have used all of them, and don't find them powerful as the authors suggest. If you want to use a machete or axe, a 12 inch Ontario or 18inch one handed machete (Cold Steel, Ontario, Condor etc...), or tomahawk (Cold Steel or others), or small axe (Wetterlings etc...) is a better alternative.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another hit for ZOMPOC! 18 May 2011

So I think I got all the info I need in the first ZOMPOC book and then this one comes out. Thank you Thomas brothers.

This book does not just rehash material covered in How To Survive The Zombie Apocalypse. This is your fighters hand book for the end of days as we know them. If you have no martial arts, military, or other fighting experience, this is a book you need to get.

Exercise, training, and technique are covered here. Weapons, armor, and strategy are also discussed within. It has lots of pictures so that you can see exactly what the authors are talking about. This is the perfect companion book to the first book put out by the the brothers Thomas.

The book is focused on the application of deadly meathods of combat against the zombie threat. This is a great book for fans of the genere or those who seriously wish to be prepared for this apocalyptic scenario.

3.0 out of 5 stars John 5 Jan 2011
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com

I read this after reading the first book in the series which I loved and read multiple times like a kid cramming for a history test. In ZOMPOC 2, the information was good, but I am military so some of the tactics and formation info was boring to me. It is great for zombie buffs like me, but I was amazed at the number of obvious spelling and grammar mistakes. I just felt like it was rushed and it ended abruptly.
