Book Description

25 Dec 2009
"Zombies for Zombies" is the first motivational guide for a person who has just been infected. This guide leads its readers by their cootie-covered hands and encourages each one to take the steps necessary to preserve his or her quality of life (and thereby be eligible for any number of government stamp programs). Best of all, the book contains bonus brain recipes, as well as dance steps that are designed to accommodate the zombies' total lack of flexibility. This hilarious and illustrated guide sends up both zombie lore and self-help books, and includes illustrations as funny as the advice.

About the Author

David P. Murphy is a living, breathing guy, and a songwriter who, inexplicably, spends an excessive amount of quality time thinking and writing about zombies. Murphy and zombies go way back. He saw Invisible Invaders as a child and it scared the bejeepers out of him. However, he quickly moved past the nightmares of his youth and began dreaming of visits to Caribbean jungles to experience his zombie friends firsthand. The realization of that dream, sadly, led to yet more nightmares and deeper issues. Gratefully, his fascination eventually evolved into a profession once he obtained his Ph.Z. from the prestigious Port-au-Prince Capon Academy.

Murphy currently can be seen shambling about the Omaha, Nebraska area where he closely guards his brains and those of his cat, Beany. He has no affiliation with QualiCorps(TM) although hes been known to enjoy a product of theirs every now and then. And one day, God willing, he hopes to retire to one those lovely Scarlet Shores facilities.

Daniel Heard is a living, breathing illustrator and graphic novelist. A graduate of the S.F. Academy of Arts, his artwork is featured on the cover and interior of Daniel H. Wilson and Anna Long's book, The Mad Scientist Hall of Fame and the Tori Amos graphic novel, Comic Book Tattoo.

4.0 out of 5 stars Full of fun "knowledge" 7 May 2010
Format:Paperback
If you have an interest in zombies (why would you be reading this book otherwise?) then this is a really fun and easy read for you.

The book was very on point and humorous with some cool, new theories that I really liked, for instance about the zombie "virus" not really being a virus, but a prion and therefore uncureable.
The splitting of the zombies into classes was also pretty cool. The bad ones of course being "the horde" and the good ones (what the book wants you to want to be), "the post-lifers".

It's a book that talks about sides of zombies you have never heard of (for instance there's a whole chapter about zombie sex called "the coma sutra") so it keeps you quite excited about learning more, but the reason why it doesn't get five stars from me is because around chapter ten and onwards it starts getting a bit tedious and uninteresting. Around that time I couldn't wait for it to end, which is very sad since I'd enjoyed the book so much up to that point.

There were some zombie recipes in appendix of the book which were an interesting concept but kind of a waste of space. I wish he had just left the last parts of the book out.

But would I recommend you read Zombies for Zombies? YES! I had a lot of giggles while reading this book. It's really fun and it takes very little time to read so you should definitely make the effort to do so.

3.0 out of 5 stars How do you survive as a zombie? 26 April 2013
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
You thought your life was over but turns out it's not!

It's quite a fun book full of interesting "facts" and "how-to's" when you've become a zombie. I would definitely recommend it as a fun gift or for yourself if you just like zombie-related things, but with that said I feel like something's missing and it's not the best zombie spoof book out there for the money.
