Book Description

Any spec ops mission is bound to be a dangerous and nasty affair—but this one is RIDICULOUS. Not only does the President of the United States send Commander Achilles Black’s ghost team to a dying world, but he forces Black to take along a senior political advisor. But that’s only the beginning of Black’s problems.

Because something is killing off his troops.

And the revelation that he’s up against ZOMBIES won’t be the worst surprise that Black encounters.

This short story also includes a FREE excerpt of the first four chapters of the exciting short novel, ZOMBIE SUN: THE DARKNESS BETWEEN WORLDS.

Fans of 28 DAYS LATER, LEGEND, and LOST will enjoy the fast-moving series ZOMBIE SUN.

4.0 out of 5 stars It has it's flaws but it's still very good. 27 Dec. 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The story really throws you in at the deep end, background wise, and you suddenly find yourself in the middle of some fast paced action. It's well writen and has a clever twist at the end but I have to agree with one of the other reviewers that the characters had some flaws. They reacted more like the man off the street then specially trained soldiers but if they had acted more like trained killers I suspect I would have discarded the story. It's the emotion and their reactions that make it what it is.

Now I'm off to buy the longer Zombie Sun book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Hard as nail's zombies 4 Dec. 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
This is a really short taster book which gives you an idea of the storyline before you read book one in the series,of which there is a prologue at the end of this book.
I enjoyed the book a lot it had a nice pace and some interesting characters. The basic background given is that the sun was near its end and is giving off big solar flares which meant earth had to be evacuated, the rest of the background is patchy and I feel a bit more information here would have helped.
Once evacuated a special forces team is sent back to retrieve something, which only the civilian with them knows about. Without giving to much away they meet some tough zombies who require more than a shot to the brain to sort out.
This is where the only poor bit of the book sticks out for me, the soldiers sent in are meant to be the best, trained special forces. However after one casualty they fall apart, and the first casualty stretches the imagination to breaking point. So more Dad's army than Ghost squad ,which is a shame as the book is very well written and offers some promising reads ahead.
I would definitely recommend it, especially for zombie and sci-fi fans and I will try the second book for certain.

Hope this helps

4.0 out of 5 stars Zombie horror novella. 20 Feb. 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
2238 - Earth is lifeless, ravaged by solar flares.
A special forces unit is sent back to recover Code Name:UNICORN from the abandoned whitehouse.

A lifeless earth is a tragedy, an undead earth is a Horror.
Well written action horror piece faithful to the horror genre and not letting Scifi setting get in the way.
A recommended read for horror fans.

3.0 out of 5 stars Okay Military SF 24 Oct. 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
For a free download this was okay.

The action scenes are quite well handled. It is a bit predictable but it is quite an enjoyable read.

Maybe the title gives away the plot a bit too much!

2.0 out of 5 stars Too short for me 28 Jun. 2014

Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This was too short for me - I downloaded it ages ago without realising that it was meant to be a short introduction to a short book. Seems an odd concept to me.

There were promising elements to the story, but, as another reviewer has pointed out, the title gives away the ending - how weird it that?
