Get yourself a snappy title and a couple of marquee names (however disreputable) and you might just snag your no-budget movie a national release--as Zombie Strippers colorfully proves. The names in question belong to porn star Jenna Jameson and Freddie Krueger himself, Robert Englund, both of whom look quite comfortable in this sleazy milieu. As the title suggests (well, "suggests" might be a mild word), there has been an outbreak of the undead in a strip club, with strippers actually improving their onstage antics after they've become zombies. (Given the number of implants on display, it's a wonder the zombies didn't keel over from silicone poisoning.) Englund is the proprietor of the place, Jameson is a star dancer, and a couple of actresses in the "nice girl" roles don't have to take their tops off, although almost everybody else does. Writer-director Jay Lee fills the movie with political gags and a bunch of philosophy references (Jameson reads Nietzsche, the locale is Sartre, Nebraska), all of which play like a lame attempt to distinguish his movie as something other than a puerile horror-comedy. Only thing is, when you try to disguise the fact that you've made a puerile horror-comedy, it kind of takes the oomph out of both the horror and the comedy. The political jibes are about as feeble as those in Southland Tales, but at least Zombie Strippers is shorter. Shot on video, it looks atrocious, but perhaps that doesn't matter very much. --Robert Horton, Amazon.com

Synopsis

Robert Englund (best known for playing Freddie Krueger) and Jenna Jameson (best known for playing naked), might seem like an odd cinematic pairing, but not when you consider the title of this horror comedy: Zombie Strippers. When the exotic dancers of Sartre, Nebraska, begin getting zombified, it's up to a few of their own to save the day. Jay Lee (The Slaughter) wrote and directed this blood-and-boob-filled satire.

I guess the some of the people reviewing this movie did not get it? This movie is intended to be a Russ Meyer, B movie bit of fun. At no point was this supposed to be a serious horror movie. The acting is deliberately hammy, the Z force squad action movie stereotypes and the over the top horror. If you take it as such, it's a brilliant giggle late night movie to watch with friends. If however you treat it as a serious horror movie, you will feel seriously let down. Considering many of the stars are from the adult film business, the acting is surprisingly good, and with pretty good special effects, it feels like a excellent quality B movie (if that isn't a contradiction!). So sit down and enjoy a tongue in cheek comedy horror classic!

striptease meets the living dead, effects will gross you out, the strippers provide the interest to the male audience, they ooze sex appeal as they eat their way through their willing audience, not a classic, more a b movie but i watched it to the end so it had my attention for the eighty odd minutes, if you like a bit of tongue in cheek horror this might be the one for you

My son loved this but I'm afraid I think it's pretty dull and anything but a decent zombie movie (as you may have guessed from the title).

Ok it's only fun but is basically a soft porno pretending to be a comedy-horror. Only buy it on that basis and certainly avoid it if you're just a zombie movie freak. Shaun of the Dead fans should probably still treat it with caution. Lots of tits and gore about (head shots, arms and legs ripped off etc with some other stuff I can't describe here except to say the zombie stripper called it a face dance) hence the 18 rating.

The surround-sound system (including sub-woofer) gets a decent work out on some (though not all) of the action scenes. Barely worth a fiver, certainly don't pay twice the price for this BD version. Why they bothered with a BD release is beyond me when so many excellent films don't get a BD release.

Robert Englund makes a total arse of himself as the pathetic owner of the strip cum zombie club.

All in all you're better off just giving this one a miss.
