Product Description

After a chemical leak at the Hope Centre in Papua New Guinea (an organisation devoted to feeding underdeveloped countries) turns its staff into flesh-eating zombies, a four-man commando squad led by Mike London are sent to investigate. They run into a TV news crew led by celebrity reporter Lea, who are after the same story, but when they discover that the entire country has been overrun by zombies, what are the chances of them getting the message across? Unlike most zombie films, this actually tries to make a serious point - that if we don't feed the Third World, they'll come and feed on us!

Top Video Nasty Trash 12 May 2002
Format:DVD
Among the video nasties of the 1980's were some truly appalling films, and this is undoubtedly one of them. But full marks to Vipco for releasing this wide-screen remastered and fully uncut version, so that now you can see exactly what you were missing.
The plot involves a zombie invasion that starts in a chemical plant and spreads to a jungle location where some hapless tourists and reporters join forces with a Special Forces extermination squad in an attempt to survive/end the zombie outbreak. However, the film's appeal (if any) is not in the story, it's in the laugh-a-minute bad acting, dubbing and diabolical over-use of stock footage. Check out the heroine's visit to a native village, as shots of her alone in someone's back garden are intercut with random footage of genuine native rituals from any number of film shoots around the globe...it's mind numbingly cheap. The film does of course have some outrageous gore, and yes, you can finally see the climactic death by "eyeballs poked out by means of a hand through the mouth" scene in all it's glory, but that's long after you may have dozed off from the boredom of the preceding 80 or so minutes of crappy sub-Fulci zombie snacking and horrendous overacting. Its way below the quality of "Zombie Holocaust" and even "Nights Of Terror", so ask yourself if it's really worth the bother, before you shell out your cash.
Comes with other Vipco trailers, stills gallery (nice shot of the eyeballs!) and scene selection.

Zombie Creeping Flesh was shot inside 2 weeks with next to no budget. Mattei used Wildlife and news documentary footage to give it an 'epic' feel.

To his credit he pulled it off as it felt bigger than it actually was even though at times there is no cohesion where it jumps off from the story to birds flying in the air or slow motion shots of monkeys jumping through the trees or dubbed UN meetings!

The funny thing is that in the runing time of the film there probably is as much borrowed footage as there is actually shot footage!!

There is also some hilarious gaffes due to the aforementioned shooting schedule where there is a long sequence of documentary footage of African tribesman then goes straight to the heroes being surrounded by half a dozen guys with 70's afros and a zombie opening the door to a moving jeep, getting in and then closing the door, hardly creeping flesh!!!!

The dubbing is hilarious. I've got a sneaking suspision that if the original dialouge was translated into English it wouldn't match what you hear when you are watching it.

With what I mentioned this film should be an unwatchable mess but Creeping Flesh is an experience, it is low buget entertainment and is great if you just want to sit down after a hard days work and want to watch something to lighten your mood.

After an accident in a chemical plant in New Guinea that causes the locals to turn into zombies, a special squad is sent to sort out the problem. Along the way they are joined by a journalist and her camera man and after fighting off the zombie hordes they reach the chemical plant were the truth behind the plant is revealed.

Lets be frank, Zombie Creeping Flesh is an awful movie, but it's a lot of fun with it's terrible dubbing, bad acting, over the top gore, inappropriate use of stock footage, Margrit Evelyn Newton's lovely breasts and it's use of music from Dawn of the Dead, Beyond the Darkness and Contamination.

Vipco's (now also available on the Beyond Terror label) UK DVD is presented in a nice 1.85:1 widescreen transfer (Non-anamorphic) and is completely Uncut. There are no extras of note. The R0 US DVD from Anchor Bay and Blue Underground (as Hell of the Living Dead) are also fully uncut with a nice looking anamoprhic transfer and have some decent extras including a 9 minute interview with Bruno entitled 'Hell Rats of the Living Dead' (which is also on the USA DVD of Rats - Night of Terror) the trailer and picture gallery. Anchor Bay also released it as part of a double bill dvd with Rats.

Totally brilliant
This film is a work of art. The storyline fantastic and the way the director blends the atmospheric chill with the gory backbone of the film creates the perfect media synergy
