Quite simply, not as good as the other two. Although there is no link to any of the three films, the fact that Lucio Fulci had no hand in this chapter means there is something missing. The first is highly overrated, the second slightly better. Unfortunately, the third is indeed third.
The main problem is that it has Americanized, dodgy 80's American rock music, the lack of suspense and poor direction. The majority of the zombies seem to be little guys dressed in black who preform more like ninjas than the walking dead. They literally leap around, and, look closely, and you can even spot a pair of underpants pushing out the top of on zombies trousers!
The plot is a little better than some of these films, but not a great deal. There is a huge lack of detail and continuality. This is by no means the worst zombie film around, there are a few good gory scenes, but you may find yourself fast forwarding to the 'good' bits as the rest is so mundane.

ZFE 3 surprised me. After reading the previous reviews here I didnt expect much from the 3rd Flesh Eaters and only reason being for buying was to complete my trilogy. I also noticed that this was the only one not directed by Fulci so my expectations went down even more. When I watched the movie though I was surprised.
The movie was wonderfully fast paced, loads of action and a simple but not very original story from the 1st and 2nd. But entertainment is the main thing about Italian zombie flicks and Flesh 3 is good entertainment. There's plenty of gore but I'm not sure if it will be enough to satisfy hardcore gore fans but I thought it was satisfying (Me being a hardcore fan) Expect it to be as or nearly as violent as the 1st but dont expect another Braindead. It does contain a cool eye goughing scene (not the same kind of shock as the 1st though I'm afraid) but has various other gore scenes typical in zombie movies.
If you want to complete your zombie collection or Flesh Eaters collection then get the 3rd as its good cheap entertainment. It's not a classic like the 1st but its good fun.

Zombie 3 aka zombie 4..confused? is probably the worst of the three films,not that they are in any way connected. The 1st is a masterpiece,very suspensful with good gore fx and a fairly good story and direction from lucio fulci. The 2nd film was only partially directed by fulci as he fell ill whilst making it and it shows,it's still not too bad but a notch down on the top italian horrors of the period. Now this brings us to Zombie 3 which fulci had nothing to do completely and you can tell this was thrown to gether haphazardly..the make up fx are nowhere near as good,the gore ok at best and the acting atrocious..but hey no one said this stuff was gonna win oscars..lol
If your back from the pub early on a sat night and want a mild divertion then this will prob do you and keep you moderately entertained but if you want the top italian horrors then this ain't it. Check out Zombie flesh eaters 1,cannibal ferox,cannibal holocaust,the beyond and even zombie holocaust for better movies.

More comedy than horror
I saw this recently on television. I spent more time laughing at how bad this film was. I wouldn't call it a low budget film - it was more like a NO budget film
