Fed up with sharing my best friend's snorkel and goggles on holiday (consistently), I knew it was time to bite the bullet and just get my own set... for both of our sakes!
How experienced am I? Lets just say i've snorkelled a grand total of three times whilst abroad, and they certainly won't be the last three times either. The sense of freedom one gets from being able to lay in the ocean and move about freely underwater is perfect if you're confident enough to navigate your way around seabeds and currents. In fact, snorkelling itself is far easier than I had originally imagined. So when it came to actually buying a set, I was rest assured that there would be few complications, and so made my way to Amazon.
In the end I settled for this nice 'Zoggs Adult Reef Explorer' pack and I don't regret the purchase one bit. The pack was taken to Tenerife where I had no trouble using the product. Set-up was straightforward and couldn't have been simpler; just clip the breathing tube onto the head strap of the goggles and you're pretty much good to go! Before setting off though, I was advised to plop a bit of toothpaste on the visor area of my goggles to prevent misting up, and this proved to be excellent advice as I went for hours with no trouble. The actual fit of the goggles cause no problems, although I was finding later in the week that the head strap kept slipping down the back of my had and rubbing on the top of my ears. Most likely just needs adjusting!
As for the breathing tube, I ended up comparing it to other makes and models and the present item appears to be very similar in shape and design. The top features a filter to prevent any nasties getting through, and the form is obviously 'bent' so that when you rise to the surface, you can just tilt your head back, blow hard, and the water drops out easily. Mouthpiece was comfortable, too.
The goggles also made an excellent addition to the pool at our hotel, as I found them much more comfortable and clearer to wear than traditional 'swimming' goggles. Obviously I looked silly, but who cares when you're on holiday?
No hesitations in recommending this product at all!
