Wittenborn's 'Fierce People' has to be one of my top ten favourite books, but unfortunately for me 'Zoe' fails. The narrator doesn't really engage with the story enough; like Finn in 'Fierce People' he is an observer, but instead of getting sucked in he is simply, in the end, left out of the plot. The world of fashion and modelling is not made gripping enough to hang a story on, either.
I wanted to like this so much, but found it flat and ordinary. If you liked 'Fierce People', try this but don't expect to be blown away.
