Product Description

Manufacturer's Description

Chi Machine
Does your home need some freshening up? We have the ultimate solution with the Zielonka Smellkiller range of products.

Smell Killers are made out of a special high-grade stainless steel. As soon as they come into contact with air and water, the special steel alloy acts like a catalyst that neutralizes all odours - just like the catalytic converter that reduces harmful emissions from your car’s exhaust.
But how does this work? In simple terms, the large, complex, organic smell molecules that are present in the air are broken up by the catalyst Smell Killer into smaller ‘odourless’ molecules, therefore killing the smell.
Why do things always smell?

Odours are unfortunately unavoidable. They follow us our whole lives whether we want them to or not. Just about every living organism or object, regardless of whether it’s a plant, fish, animal, person, lounge chair or television, emits odour molecules. Our ability to smell odours depends on the number of odour molecules present. Because our body is constructed in a way that warns us against rotten food or fire, our noses never stop working. Today, thanks to inventions such as sewerage systems, cleverly planned houses and running water, we live in a world of relatively low offensive smells. This however is exactly the reason why we are so sensitive to bad odours. In contrast to the inhabitants of medieval cities who encountered bad odours every day, our noses have been saved from many smells. Nevertheless, we still have a very refined sense of smell that protects us against rotten food, wild animals and other dangers. Today, even the slightest odour can quickly become an annoyance.

And now, for the first time, there is a solution to all bad odours: the Zielonka Smell Killer. And what is even better: the Zielonka Smell Killer works without using any chemicals and can neutralize even the worst smells, and not just by blanketing them with another odour.

Smell Killer
Smell Killer Products - For Personal Use, for the Home, Car and Pets.

Wherever you have a problem with a smell, there is a Zielonka Smell Killer product that will be perfect for you. Use it everywhere you need it to fight odors at their source. Perfect for all round the home, in rooms up to 16m2 (172 square feet) but it is especially useful in the kitchen. Simply place the disk in water and then place in the fridge, cupboard or around the rubbish bin. You can even wash your hands with it to neutralise odours such as garlic and onion.

What chemically is a ‘Smell’?

To understand smells, you need to imagine the smell particles (or molecules) being held, suspended in the air, being emitted by the source of the smell. Smell molecules are similar to a string of different-sized pearls which form a pattern - as substances develop their scent as organic chains. Smells are natural, organic chains which happen to interact with our noses to trigger our sense of smell. If you then break the organic string, you are then only left with individual pearls and subsequently the pattern disappears. This, if you break the "odour chain" then the scent disappears as well. Because odours are organic substances, no hazardous waste is created, except what could be regarded as below the measurable level of "odour compost".

What is a catalyst?

A catalyst is a material that causes a reaction of other compounds but does not physically change itself. The Smell Killer acts as a catalyst to the process of converting odour chain molecules into bland non-odour chains through the introduction of the alloy smell killer in conjunction with air and water. The most common catalyst in our lives today appears in every car on the road. In this case, the carbon in the catalytic convertors convert the harmful exhaust gases into lesser compounds and water, saving tones of pollution each day.

But how does this work in the Smell Killer?

The Zielonka Smellkiller is a solid alloy disc that neutralizes bad odours in your home or workplace without using any chemicals. It starts to work as soon as it come into contact with air and water. The Smell Killers are environmentally friendly and lasts a lifetime.

Smell is actually combination of the molecules of different substances, for example:
  • Hydrogen + Sulphur = Stink bomb
  • Stink bomb + Smellkiller + Water = No smell!
The Smellkiller acts like a catalyst to separate the different molecules in the air and thereby neutralizes and oxidizes them into bland–smelling compounds, eliminating the smell. For this to happen, the Smellkiller must be in contact with both water and air.

For removing smells from hands or clothes, simply rub the Smellkiller with water and the hands or clothing article to eliminate the smell, it usually takes about 10-20 seconds. For difficult odours, this can take perhaps as long as 60 seconds.

Good, efficient and well designed. East to clean, but needs to be attached to a thinnish shelf.
