Product Description

Zero Noodles are made from Konjac Glucomannan which is a natural soluble fibre produced by the Konjac Plant which is then mixed with water to produce the noodles. The noodles are white/translucent in colour and slightly gelatinous in texture; they are contained in water and packaged in plastic bags. Zero Noodles are relatively tasteless, as is pasta or rice, and absorb the flavour of the food and sauce in which they are cooked in. Before consuming, noodles must be rinsed well under warm water and then dried with kitchen paper before then adding to the cooked food and simmering for a further 3 minutes until heated through.

These are a perfect base for a quick meal. I like that the size of the package is just right for a meal for one. I boil a green veg with enough water to make a large bowl of soup then use the veg water. After cooking the noodles I add a packet of miso soup and a shake of powder ginger, a pinch of garlic powder and a shot of tobacco. Makes a warming meal on a cold evening! You could add fish, prawns or cooked chicken if you like. Important: In order to prevent these becoming rubbery you need to rinse quickly in warm water, then add to the cooking water after it's cooled a bit and bring back to boil and immediately remove from the heat, cover the pan and they're ready in about 2 minutes. If you over or undercook you'll get something consistency of elastic bands. Unlike the other reviewers I don't find these expensive. They are cheaper than a ready meal and much more nourishing.

The noodles are great but do not represent value for money. I think it is something that UK supermarkets should stock at a lower price

They are ok, they have no taste when you eat, but in my opinion they do leave a funny after taste. I generally use it for stir fry so it can get some of the sauce taste. In the end of the day the reason I bought it is the zero calories and the lack of carbs, so what matters is that it does what says in the pack!!!

Especially in stir fries where they take on the taste of the other ingredients. I can't really see much difference between these and other noodles and so would definitely recommend. Rather pricey and there must be a cheaper way of buying these which I will investigate hence the 4 stars.

The Negatives
They have a rubbery texture and need a lot of chewing.

I had no issues with the smell I just gave them a rinse before cooking.
They picked up the flavour from the sauce and other food and left me feeling full.

Having read other reviews, I was expecting these to be foul smelling tiny packets. I was presently surprised that not only was the smell very faint and not unpleasant, but also the packet size was just right for a single portion. Yes the texture is a little unusual and a bit rubbery, but when mixed into a stir fry with crispy ingredients, the texture is not a problem. The only issue is the cost. I have been told that asian supermarkets sell these at a tiny fraction of the cost, so I will certainly do some investigation before my next purchase.

I read the reviews and rinsed them before use, so far i've only used them in stir fry but they are yummy! Like another reviewer i notice that normal noodles don't taste of anything much so these are the same but far fewer calories, they take on the taste of whatever you are cooking - quorn pieces, hot smoked paprika, garlic salt, veg, spinach and Maggi seasoning make these a tasty, and super low cal dinner at around 250 cals.

They are expensive so best not to use them every day.

Will buy again, luckily Holland and Barrett sells it! Why have the Japanese kept it for themselves for so long? This product, like loads of their stuff, is to die for! Good enough for a noodle substitute, I will never jealously stare at my folks while they stuff their faces with noodles again; I will have a pack of these always with me.
