About the Author

Sarah-Jayne Gratton is an author, television presenter, and former theatre performer. She is European correspondent for the television show You Are the Supermodel, where she hosts a weekly segment on personal branding.

 

A former actress, Sarah-Jayne is an influential social media persona, speaker, and writer, regularly featured in Social Media Today and other publications including In-Spire Lifestyle Magazine (in-spirelsmagazine.co.uk) and blogcritics.org. She was nominated for a Shorty Award in social media and is one of “Twitter’s Top 75 Badass Women” (bitrebels.com). She is also listed in the Top 50 of The Sunday Times “Social List.”

Dr. Dean Anthony Gratton is a bestselling author and columnist.

 

Dean has worked extensively within the wireless telecommunications R&D industry and has an accomplished career in software engineering. He has enjoyed a variety of roles and responsibilities in addition to being an Editor of the Specification of the Bluetooth System: Profiles, v1.1 (the original specification). He has participated in defining the initial Bluetooth Personal Area Networking profile and was active in the Near Field Communication (NFC) technology and marketing committees. His wireless research work has been patented.

Laid out for the business owner who is a complete beginner, Zero to 100,000 first discuses how marketing has moved from the real to the virtual world, but saying that "It's about outsmarting rather than out spending" your competitors. Dean and Sarah guide you step by step to setting up and run accounts for all major social networks, before developing your online presence to your 100,000.

The book rounds off with some inspirational tips and success storeys form people who have leveraged the power of social media in different ways to form successful social media strategy's that work for them.

Overall Zero to 100,000 is engagingly written in clear terms, with some interesting ideas for more experienced users. I found the chapters on Blogging to be some of the best and most concisely written around. Realising the usefulness of this book, I've lent copies and recommended it to friends who run business.

A really well written overview of all the different social media systems out there and how they all work, how to set up and use to the best of their ability, and how to leverage every useful technique from them. If your looking for a step by step, 1..2..3 , do this then that.. then look elsewhere. Otherwise a really informative book.

I came across this book on a blog about social media, the review was great so I had to purchase a copy for myself. As a small business myself and offering social media management to clients I felt I needed to read this book, just to confirm I was on the right track. Although I have been using social media for many years, I still found some great advice in this book and followed some of the author's suggestions.

It's very well written and easy to follow, the sections are clear and you can easily skip to parts you need help on. I found the book so useful I organised a giveaway on my blog with this book as the prize.

A great book for a small business or individual just starting out in social media who wants to get ahead and gain fans and followers quickly without making too many mistakes. I wish I had this book when I first started my business. I will certainly be recommending this book to all my clients who are just starting out with social media.
