Well, the product has several limitations, but in the end videos of
any length in a sufficient quality can result.

limitation 1: the recorder will not record files for longer than 1 hour. it means, you must manually append files later on on your computer. The frame rate for each is a tiny bit different, and not every software will do it for you. Virtuadub failed - I used Avidemux successfully.
The need to append the files knocks out the device as a storage drive for recorded films, as manual appending of any recording is needed and the fat32 formatted drive will not store the resulting bigger file.
You should never buy a large harddrive for this device, because you will never use its capacity owing to the reason described above.



limitation 2: obviously the result of recording a widescreen signal is a picture compressed horizontally. In other words, the resolution shown in the file info can never accommodate a 16:9. I use videolan software which simply streches the video back while playing, but the video itself should have the proper ratio without being compressed horizontally. I was shocked at first, but I learned to live with it. Well, at least everything is recorded and the sides are not cut.

limitation 3: the device has no buttons, and you must use the remote control. In my case the remote control interferes with my tv-receiver's one and it is a bit upsetting.


summed up:
the performance is just enough for that price. if you look for a "plug&play" device, you should not use this product.

When the player was delivered I expected to plug it in and away I would go. This was not the case, as I found it was an enclosure only and had no hard drive installed. I now find I have to pay in the region of £50 to by a SATA hard drive, and then install it myself. The advertising mentions nothing about this.
