A wonderful insight into both humans and horses.,

This book is totally unlike most other books on horse-riding, with their instructions on "put your hands here - keep your heels there" and so on. The author discusses not just how she rides, but why. She tells an uplifting tale of falling in love with a whole new species, and as a result deepening her knowledge of herself and the world around her. Even on the most practical level, she provides insights on the skills involved in horse-riding, but the best elements about this book are the description of the horses' spirits and the rich depiction of the landscape of which they form a central part. I would recommend this book to all nervous riders (like me), and to anyone who wishes to reach a deeper understanding of the other intelligent beings with whom we share this world.
