This small ebook pulls together a number of articles from the author's website with the aim of producing a coherent guide to a more practical, simplified version of GTD. If you are planning on implementing Zen to Done then having this as a resource on your Kindle for easy reference is bound to be useful, however there are some caveats.

Firstly the reader needs a reasonable understanding of GTD; and some familiarity of Stephen Covey's Seven Habits also helps get the most from the book. Without this background a reader completely new to the subject is going to struggle. For example page three talks about planning your three MITs for the day, but it is not until page 6 that the acronym is expanded and explained.

Secondly the conversion to the Kindle looks good, with well laid out, readable text. However the content appears to contain many intended hyperlinks to further information on the author's website. These don't work on the Kindle or Kindle apps. This is most frustrating in the Resources section which as a result is just a list of headings like "Massive GTD Resources List". Google is your friend here - searching for "zenhabits Massive GTD Resources List" will find the relevant article - but how much effort would it have been to list the URL in the ebook?

Further, the example ZTD forms mentioned on the author's website as a feature of the ebook are listed in the Resources section but not included, or linked to, nor was I was unable to find them online.

Useful reference book let down by poor editing and conversion.

I got heavily into David Allen's GTD a few years ago, and it helped me tremendously. However with a new baby having having arrived this year my to-do list exploded, I was barely conscious somedays from lack of sleep and I became overwhelmed and demotivated by the lists. GTD worked really well for me until life got seriously complicated, at which point I found it pretty depressing to look at my lists - things were going on to them faster than they were coming off. What I really love about Zen to Done is how it has helped me with this. Right now I needed a simpler system to help with the 'Get Stuff Done' and work out which things it would be ok not to do bit rather than the 'Get Stuff Organized' and try to do it all GTD only approach. I'd still very much recommend David Allen's GTD book - the author makes no attempt to disguise that this system is evolved from GTD. I think that this book makes an excellent companion to it, or a stand alone system in its own right. It's not a long book, and in my mind that makes it better value - I feel that the author has made the effort to distil what he wants to say and not waste the readers time with fluff. I appreciated that and got a lot out of it in a short space of time.

Leo has done an amazing job condensing ideas from Covey and Allen and then written an amazingly accessible guide to implementing those big ideas in your day to day life.

I can think of few better uses for £1.99 than this short GTD alternative.

For anyone who has been frustrated by the Getting Things Done methodology, groundbreaking and comprehensive as it is, Zen To Done is a fantastic alternative. For those familiar with Leo Babauta's blog, Zen Habits or his major work, The Power of Less, his simple writing style and emphasis on small yet profound changes will be refreshing and familiar.

My favourite chapter is 'Minimal ZTD': the four essential habits that will absolutely transform the work habits of anyone lacking the unproductive, unfocused or unmotivated worker.
