This is a nice piece of kit, well made solidly built. Stainless Steal is just so much more robust than Aluminium. I've used it numerous times on a fire bowl either sitting on the rim (as in the pic) or suspended by the handle from a tripod (of branches).

The outside gets very dirty to the point where I've given up doing more than rubbing off the more transferrable soot. It needs stored in a binnable plastic bag.

The plastic clips that hold the lid on and the handle in place are a design weakness. They need to be metal too. I have to be very careful as they show signs of degrading from being licked by flame or just getting too hot from the proximity of the hot fumes coming off the fire.

If using the can without the lid and just sitting on the heat source (rather than suspended by the handle) there is no practical way to keep the handle up, it falls down towards the heat source which makes it too hot to use. The plastic clips only hold the handle (somewhat) firmly upright when the lid is on. And the lid needs to be off to stir.

I've yet to find a use for the bowl. If you were actually using it to separate meat and carbohydrate then there is no practical way to remove the bowl to stir the bottom of the billycan, something you need to do pretty frequently.

I use this can solo and while that's nowhere nearly filling the can I wanted the width. It's also nice to know that I won't spill over the edge when I'm stirring but I can see it easily handling two or perhaps even three peoples meals at once.

However these are all pretty minor drawbacks on an otherwise great product. 4 stars.

A sturdy stainless billycan with an inner pan that fits inside, that you can use for food separation or as a plate, there is nothing to go wrong with these zebra pots! I now own a few sizes in these pots and unlike some Billy's that have plastic knobs or handles on them ... this billy is entirely made of stainless steel, and although a little bulky and heavier than its aluminium counterpart, I wouldn't go anywhere without it. Good reliable kit that won't let you down.

You've found the perfect billy can. Now you just need to pick a size. Remove the plastic clips before putting it on the fire.

A great little billy for a dad and his son to take with them for the day; we are not so much bothered about the quality of the food, more by the quantity and the energy both chemically and spirtually that a hot meal provides.

I use this billy with foods such as soups (dried or tinned) beans, stews; basically something with lots of calories and easy to heat through. The capacity is great for a growing 13 year old and his greedy dad and combined with our trangia stove can provide us with a hot meal whilst out walking/trekking/stalking (with a camera) for the day.

Obviously you can use it in the same way that you can for any pan, to heat water or whatever, but for us, whether it be hung over a fire, used with our gas stove, trangia or even used to hold barbecue sauce on our barbecue it does the job. It is robust and being stainless steel I anticipate that it will last for years. My only critiscism is the plastic clips, but you can't have everything!

If you're a lone camper and you tend to cook on open fires then this product is perfect.

Easily big enough for some of my larger meals and could possibly fit two peoples meals in there if you were willing to slow cook.

The notch in the handle makes it perfect for getting in/out or hanging over the fire. Doesn't stay shiny long over the camp fire but it's a brilliant product, if it failed prematurely then I'd replace it with exactly the same.

One tip is too remover the plastic clips for the lid if you do cook on an open fire, the lid still stays in place but the plastic doesn't get melted.

A good buy.

A very speedy delivery prompted a quick venture out to try the billy can and I was not disappointed in it. My only reservation was the plastic clips to hold the lid on. This may have been better if the had been stainless steel as well. A good product that includes a small dish that can be used for steaming food or as a plate (although I like a bigger plate, this may help with my waistline lol). Overall, I am very happy with my Zebra billy can and I can't wait until I get to use it again! I highly recommend this for an individual, bigger sizes are available for two or more people.
