5.0 out of 5 stars Zatoichi vs Yojimbo, 31 Jul 2001
By A Customer
The Blind Swordsman find himself longing for a peaceful village which he has visited before. When he gets there he finds things greatly changed and meet with Yojimbo (as always, played by Toshiro Mifune). The village is run by gangsters who have hired Yojimbo to their cause. But there are competing gangsterbosses in the village and they are all in it for the gold. The major villain has skimmed off the national minting and hides the gold in the village. Gangsters, Zatoichi, Yojimbo, and more gangsters make a try for the gold but somewhere a spy for the Shogun is hiding and waiting to punish the wrongdoers and return the gold. This film is funny and very humane in the sense that the meeting between Zatoichi and Yojimbo's cynical selfs make them both better people. or at least make them both very aware of their cynical ways. I highly recommend this film and think it is a worthy continuation of Toshiro Mifune's character Yojimbo's path and as always a pleasure to watch Zatoichi deal with what life has to offer him.

3.0 out of 5 stars what the?, 15 Dec 2001
By gieltythegreat@aol.com (England (the north)) - See all my reviews
This is certanly got to be one of the more bizzare films I've seen this year. Annoyingly, the film seems to be full of translation errors making for an interesting but confusing little film. Buy it though, because whilst it may be difficult to understand, this film is great if you're looking for a challenge.
