If you fit this cooler, make sure you have a lot of room in the case. I fitted on Asus AMD board. There is no room left to fit a fan on the side of the case once you have installed the Zalman. Otherwise a great cooler and very quiet.

After reading a lot of articles from various sources, giving both good and bad reviews decided to go for this cooler. It dropped the temperature of my over-clocked Q9400 down from a Max of 65c which caused my motherboard to shut the computer down to 45c.

It is quite big, so are most good coolers, which was my main concern as my motherboard (Asus P5Q Deluxe) has a large heat sink around the processor. But this cooler has plenty of clearance there and still provides some air flow down onto the heat sink.

Fitting it is very easy, but you almost certainly will have to remove the motherboard from your system case. The instructions are good although the common component parts used for the different brackets could have been worded better.

As for price, I have to say excellent value, tried a few other IT sites for this cooler and no one came close, add to that free delivery and it arrived Wednesday after ordering on a Friday bank holiday weekend, nice one!

I bought this to replace the stock AMD cooler for my Phenom II X4 965. The stock cooler is ok but the fan runs at just over 3000 rpm when the CPU is running flat out, and you can hear the difference in load clearly. I wanted something that would cool better and be quieter, and after searching many technical reviews decided on this one. The Zalman is large - the dimensions are given but even so I wondered if it would fit in my case (Antec 300). Having measured carefully and even made a cardboard mock up (sad but true!) I thought it would be ok - and it is. In fact the Zalman stands clear of the main board heat sinks and the RAM allowing them to cool easier too.

I was very pleased that installation was so easy. Everything is provided, and if like me you're an AMD user then you don't have to remove the motherboard to fit supporting brackets - just use the provided clip: paste up, clip down and away you go. Neat!

So what difference does it make? During stress testing using Prime95 on the stock cooler I was getting a steady 60 degrees celcius reported for the CPU temperature (and fan speed of around 3000 rpm). The Zalman dropped this by a whole 10 degrees - the system now runs quieter (fan speed 1000 rpm) and cooler (50 degrees and steady). Stop the stress test and the processor temperature plummets to about 34 degrees within 30 seconds, and is back to 2 degrees above case within 2 minutes.

Am I pleased? Very
Would I recommend the Zalman? Yes - if it will fit.
Any complaints? Not really. Even the green LED is ok.. honest! (I can't see it inside the case anyway).

Well i got the Zalman for my i7 build and i have an asus board i found it a little tricky to fit due to you need to put some pressure to fix all the screws in but it is worth every penny and all the effort.
Its a very good cooler 10+ degrees lower and it looks really nice with all that nickel glowing in ur case and the green fan is good too.
Must note that if you have a standard case you may have trouble as it is quite large but it will fit in a full tower such as the antec 1200 with ease, happy building.

Delivery was excellent from supplier.

The look of build quality of this heatsink is very good 10/10 however installation is very hard. The screw and mounting seem to be to shallow had to use allot of force to actually fix the heatsink to the motherboard.

Also if this is an upgrade please please remove everything and treat it as a new install of all your hardware.

However once installed you will see the benefits running a i7 oced rig at 4.7ghz running prime 95 the processor only reached temps of 65c max across the 4 cores which is better than my H-80.

The noise levels are fantastic and you only really hear the flow of air which is quite substantial with no real need for a push me pull you config if going for extreme cooling.

Overall product is a 10/10 but Zalman need to revisit the installation aspect.

I bought the cooler as part of my "system cooling" upgrade, which included Antec 300 case and this cooler. It was tough to decide whether to buy this cooler or a liquid cooling system, but at half the price of an average liquid cooling I thought I would give this a go. The actual fitting on AMD CPU took around 3 minutes and it fit perfectly well on Gigabyte microATX motherboard, without obstructions of RAM modules or anything else on the motherboard - the heat-sink sits high enough to prevent this. My only concern is this cooler does not sit firmly on the CPU, but it's no biggie, could be due to too much paste I applied. As for performance, the average core temperature of my CPU fell from 54C to 30C. I'm sure it's partly due to better airflow inside Antec 300 case, but still, it's a huge fall from what it was. And the cooler is virtually silent - its huge fan doesn't work hard to cool down the heatsink. Now, I'm not a gamer to test its performance while playing games, so can't say much about that aspect of PC use. But it fits the bill for graphic-intensive design apps that I use.

So the bottom line is if you want to save on complex cooling systems, want your PC to be silent, and have enough space in your PC case;), get this cooler - you won't regret it!
