Reviews

5.0 out of 5 stars A true definition of Heavy Metal 14 April 2004
Format:DVD
Zakk Wylde is undoubtedly one of the best guitarists of our time and a pure representation of heavy metal, this DVD proves to be a perfect example of what metal is all about, but let me break it up for you...
LIVE CONCERT
In front of 2000+ eager fans Zakk and his Black Label Society play an amazing set list, from the heavy's such as 'Genocide Junkies', and 'Berserkers' to the sombre 'Spoke In The Wheel'. The crowd is amazing and are truly the kind of fans you expect a band like this to have (the kind of fans that drank the venue dry of all alcohol) who sing along and cheer to every song.
Zakk mentions his 'distaste' for Limp Bizkit, but any fan of his already will find that as no surprise, and he dedicates a song to the military serving in Iraq, something that has obviously upset a fellow reviewer. But regardless of your opinion on the two subjects, this is a very heavy and very down to earth show.
INTERVIEW
While Zakk is almost defiantly drunk in this interview, making it slightly hard to understand what he says, you can get pretty much understand all of it, and it will have you laughing. Zakk covers a wide range, from his first ever concert (in which the deal was made using a hatchet) where they trashed the house, to him joining Ozzy Osbourne's band and living his dream.
GUITAR LESSON
I'm only a beginner guitar player so this Lesson was far to complex for me to handle, it's amazing to see how he can make something that sounds so great seem so simple (which sadly it isn't).

5.0 out of 5 stars Finger lickin' good 19 Nov 2004
Format:DVD
This DVD is probably the best DVD you'll ever buy in your life. As well as featuring Zakk and his Black Label Society performing with the Detroit Chapter, it also features an interview with the big man, three solo's; Miricle man, Cry me a River, and The Beginning (at last). Bonus features include a 10 chapter mix of the Stillborn video, Zakk with Rae Rae, a live acoustic session, a chilled out interview that will have you in stitches, and more. Any guitar players will be up for hours with this one, and BLS mothers will rock with him.

5.0 out of 5 stars Never get tired of watchin B.L.S 3 Jun 2004
Format:DVD
this was the thing we all needed, we had listened intensly to all the albums no wait...masterpieces and now we are blessed with the dvd. This is one of the best metal gigs i have ever watched, the mix is awsome, Zakk sounds so great on it its a true live performance. It was great seeing Rob from Metaliica playing on it aswell little did he know in the oncoming months he would join `tallica. Nick is well and trully one of the most underatted guitarists out their he and Zakk play off eachother so well its fun to watch. The crowd are awsome, to drink the whole venue dry is some accomplishment and one in which i am very jelos of!
The extra footage is great too, the guitar lesson from the king of Shred, and RaeRaes 3 mins of fame not to mention the stupid tish just to show even the metal gods like to goof around.
a dvd you will never get tired of every song sounds great, i wont give too much away, just that Black Label rule live.
Blee Black Label.

This is truly one too buy!! I havn't stopped playing the thing since i got it!! Zakk Wylde even gives a private guitar lesson to some of his great solo's, old & new stuff!!!
If anyone loves this band as i do, it's a must for their collection!! Zakk and the reat of the band play at blinding speeds to which we give him credit!!
I'm really speachless about the D.V.D!! Just get it as i did, It's real, touching, fun and truly inspiring to all that receive this piece of footage!!
Zakk even has a taped song with his little daughter that would bring a tear too the hardess hells-angle or Guitarist!!!!!
Support this band as I do, its well worth the money!! enjoy!! All the best from a fellow guitarist in Ireland!! Cheers!!

2.0 out of 5 stars Long awaited - but ultimately disappointing 23 Aug 2004
Format:DVD|Verified Purchase
I've been a fan of ZW for a long time.
My first memories of Zakk go back to the late-80s, when he was gigging with Ozzy. I remember the first time I watched him - it was a footage of some huge concert in Russia (Na Luzniki or something) - must have been 88 - 89. He surely made an impression (much bigger than Ozzy). I saw Pride and Glory (Zakk's first and far better band) live supporting Whitesnake in 1994 and he was awesome!!! His bull-eye guitar has become so coveted that some people nowadays buy Gibsons just because of Zakk. In short, I was really looking forward to getting this DVD!
I was disappointed. This DVD does not give Zakk Wylde any justice for his huge talent. The sound is REALLY low quality. I am not sure if it is the mixing or a poor recording equipment, but the sound is just wrong pretty much all the way - very bassy, very muddy, no definition whatsover. I have a really good DVD player/recorder and all my musical DVD sound top notch! So there is something clearly wrong with this particular title.
Quite frankly, I don't think I will ever watch this ever again - so bad is the sound quality.
The extras are kind of entertaining. The guitar lesson is fun and could be even interesting, especially for ZW wannabes. It also shows Zakk in a more mellow, down to earth mode, which he is not ashamed to illustrate.
Closing words: Great expectations, but a poor sound quality ruins this DVD. Better get some Ozzy concert and HEAR Zakk in his full Gibson-growling glory.
