the ZEDbook is an great introduction to zero carbon architecture. Starting with the basics of climate change and peak oil it establishes limits of fuel consumption and then attempts to find solutions to satisfy these limits. It systematically reviews available technologies and materials including the obligatory renewable energy options, passive ventilation & heat exchangers. It goes on to look at farms, larger developments and even high rise buildings. Finally the book takes a critical look at case studies of existing developments and concepts.
While it is an easy read it is still full of information and is ideal as an on desk reference guide to the more common questions encountered in passive/zero carbon architecture.

As a summative product of this research The ZEDbook records about 10 years of development from "Bedzed" onwards looking at the building physics and the component elements of a range of projects. The book presents a body of work that has served the profession and the cause of sustainability extremely well.
