Format:Audio CD
Finally a CD edition with the remixes that were once available on the Youthquake K7 tape only, the excellent Performance mix of the classic You Spin Me Round (Like a record) and the Extended Mix of Lover Come Back To Me in mayhem mode.
The sound of this C.D. is even a little bit higher than the CD printed in the USA without the bonus extended mixes which is a good thing. But what surprised me the most on this edition was the way some songs begins. Very different than the version I've always heard on vynil, K7 and CD.
You Spin Me Round starts with Pete's voice just saying "Racket Racket" several times which is illogical since this sample is only used on D.J. hit that button and not on this song at all, It's been a long time starts with him saying "You can be the first in line" and Cake And Eat It doesn't start the same way too, it used to start by a fade-in intro and here there's no fade-in, the pan flute starts right away.
Strange. For me, it was a very good surprise but then, I wondered. Were all the records I've bought before truncated or is this release a new thing. I've bought this album countless times since it is so good (lp, K7, u.s. CD) and now this one and this is the only edition where I've found these versions, but I'm glad I did.
The only thing missing on this CD are the lyrics, as always with Dead Or Alive, they usually never print them except on the Japanese editions of their albums but I'm not about to pay twice the price just for the lyrics even though I guess the sound quality may be even better than this one but still.
And especially with this price, this edition worths every penny because this album is also one of Dead or alive's best even though the single versions of In Too Deep and My heart goes bang are better than these album versions, it's true that this album is packed with a lot of hits if you count You Spin Me Round, Lover come back to me with even D.j. hit that button and Big daddy of the rhythm which are so energetic that they could have been singles too. And then you have Cake And Eat It and It's been a long time, to show you a different side of the group : more gentle and sophisticated.
To resume I'd say for all Dead or alive fans or even Dance music 80's fans, this album is a classic and a must-buy : everyone should have it.

gosh I love his voice, ooh and his looks then wowwa.
the music is 80s rock goth exploration, he conquers any style it appears.
Pete burns is an amazing artist who has truly dared to oppose the masses and walk his own way.
For some reason i have always admired people who dared to be different, even if for some it might just be for monetary gain(not saying this is, think he really was on a journey to express himself)
He has an amazing voice, threatening to become my new favorite, I would be sad to have Marilyn manson as only my second though, perhaps they could tie for 1st:P

A truly remarkable album from such a fab band!!! Of course You Spin Me Round, is their signature tune which is the album opener here, and has hit the No.1 in 1985 and again No.5 a few years ago after Pete's famous appearance in Big Brother, not too mention hits as remixes and samples - most famous of course been by Dannii Minogue and Jessica Simpson had a huge underground hit with this just last year. 4 Top 30 hits here Lover Come Back To Me, hit No.11, but deserved a lot bigger chart position, such a wonderful track with the Frankie style "Uuurrgh!!" chants, In Too Deep peaked at No.14 in mixed form which was a better version than the album version, but none the less was still good. My Heart Goes Bang reached No.24, but again deserved a much higher chart position, this track always reminded me of The Cure or The Mission for some reason. I'm certain that I Wanna Be A Toy, DJ Hit That Button,Cake And Eat It would have been hits too, but never got the chance too shine outside of the album. This album reached No.9 here in the UK and remains Dead or Alives most famous album too date, and it will live on in my cd player for many many years to come.

Nice PWL produced album.
I'm not a huge fan of the band, but I was attracted to the fast BPM synths and drum machines of the PWL production studio's and Dead or Alive's songwritting. Read more

The Greatest Album of its kind
