A valuable resource for any professional ministry 1 Dec 2009
By Daniel Cherry - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
Communicated in the context of youth work, this book presents an overarching theology of ministry, applicable to every person who seeks a pastoral role in God's kingdom. In this single volume, Dr. Heflin has summed up ministry in a loving, professional way that is drenched in scripture, Christ's example, and personal experience. His anecdotes and simple language make the profound implications of Christian pastoral minstry accessible.

Youth Pastor has much to offer churches (looking to hire a minister or define job descriptions and analyses), high school students (interested in purusing ministry), practicing youth pastors (looking for sharpening stones), youth ministry educators (looking for an all-in-one introduction to youth ministry), and volunteers (who help work with youth in their churches).

This volume will prove to be a valuable reference tool for any Christian servant.

I'm looking forward to future titles from Heflin.

Read this before hiring or being hired 7 July 2009
By Shane Sullivan - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I have two degrees in ministry, and I've worked in youth ministry for years, but I've never heard ministry described as well as Heflin has in this book.

I would recommend that churches looking to hire a youth leader use the profile on p. 147 to discover their own needs and then use that tool as part of the interview process. Also, youth workers who are looking for a job should use the profile both for themselves and for prospective churches. It won't just save us all a lot of headaches down the road, it will make our ministries far better for the long haul.

Refreshing Read 26 May 2010
By D. Libbon - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
Just finished up this book and found it to be really refreshing. It's engaging, challenging, applicable (with review questions at the end of each chapter), well documented (way to go on doing your homework Heflin). I would love to see Christian publishing offer more books like this and less of the mindless stuff that it has been churning out for a while. Bravo.
