Having read a less than positive review for an earlier edition of this title, I decided to borrow a copy from my library, to check it out.
I liked the learning approach followed by the author, so I bought a copy and I am very glad I did!
Each unit has teaching, followed by exercises for you to complete, then you get a bible verse.
Not only is each word or concept encountered in the verse explained, but you are given a transliteration of the verse, showing the pronunciation and where the accent falls on the word.
Although reading Hebrew can be done silently, I feel it is important to follow the ancient tradition of reading or singing the scriptures out aloud? I think it is sensible to follow the modern Hebrew pronunciation, as that is what you will encounter, if you go to any website providing Hebrew passages that you can listen to, while you read the text.
Most of the Teach Yourself books come with a CD, but sadly this one doesn't. That is my only complaint about this book!
