A funny, mischievous romantic comedy - perfect for fans of Lindsey Kelk, Jenny Colgan, Paige Toon or Sophie Kinsella...

Your bum does not look big in that dress.
Mmmm, it tastes delicious!
Of course you're better looking than Jon Hamm.

Newly engaged Natalie Butterworth is an easy-going girl. She'll do anything for a quiet life and if telling a few teensy white lies keeps her friends and family happy, then so what? It's not like they'll ever discover what she's really thinking...

Until one night, thanks to a pub hypnotist, Natalie's most private thoughts begin to bubble up and pop out of her mouth. Things get very messy indeed, especially when some sticky home truths offend her fiancé.

Natalie must track down the hypnotist before her wedding is officially cancelled. So along with bad influence bestie Meg, Natalie finds herself in the Yorkshire Parish of Little Trooley - a small village bursting with big secrets, nosy old folk and intriguing Wellington-wearing men.

When the girls get stuck in the village with no means of escape and no way to break the hypnotist's spell, Natalie is forced to face the truths she has been avoiding her whole life...

Natalie is the daughter of a neurotic mother who doesn't like being left alone, sister of Dionne who is a very attention seeking young lady who loves diamantes and bling and fiancee of handsome and prim and proper Olly who says she is almost perfect. Need I say more!

Natalie's dream has always been to run a restaurant, but she had to cut short her catering classes to look after her mother. The wedding has been booked rather quickly so mom and Dionne take charge and book all the things that she would never have chosen herself. However, because she is so worried about hurting people's feelings she goes through her whole life putting up with things.

That is until she is dragged along to a night out with her friend Meg, to see Amazing Brian the hypnotist and Meg is really keen to be chosen yet Brian has different plans and actually hypnotises Natalie instead to always tell the truth.

Now this doesn't sound like it would be a massive problem, but I can assure you it is! This new way of life of being really honest is causing havoc in her life so she traipses off with Meg to Little Trooley in search of Amazing Brian to get him to stop this charade and return her life to normal. What she doesn't bargain for is that Brian isn't at home and also the new friends she makes at the village pub and one in particular - a big handsome hunk called Riley!

I can honestly say that this book was a complete and utter pleasure to read. Hilarious throughout with moments where I laughed out really loud and snorted at the same time - a delightful picture! Kirsty Greenwood appears to have the same sense of humour as I have, so it fitted really well with me and I read the whole book with a great big smile on my face.

This is one of the funniest, most enjoyable books I've read in ages. Full of laugh out loud moments & loveable characters. One of those books that is so easy to identify with it almost feels like it has been written just for you. Oh, and I so want to live in Little Trooley! I have been recommending this book to all of my friends, it is a fantastic debut and I can't wait to read more from the hilarious Kirsty Greenwood.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thoroughly enjoyable! 30 Nov 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I was looking for some good Christmas romantic comedies (after all, it is that time of year) and this book hit all the right notes. I'm so glad I gave it a whirl; it's warm, very funny and with a half decent plot. I really enjoyed the read and understand that this is the author's first effort, so hat's off to Kirsty for writing a gem! I would highly recommend that you add this to your Christmas reads, and if like me, it's Christmas romantic comedies you are after, I would also highly recommend I'm Dreaming of a Wilde Christmas (A laugh-out-loud romantic comedy) by Rhona T Pinkleton.
I look forward to Kirsty's next novel :-)

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect, laugh out loud chick lit 3 July 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Natalie Butterworth is quiet and compliant, pushing away her own thoughts and feelings to go along with what everyone else wants. She never stands up for herself or challenges the actions of others so she does nothing when her mum and sister completely take over the planning of her wedding. Weeks before her wedding to Olly, Natalie and her best friend go to see a hypnotist show at their local pub and Natalie ends up being hypnotised to tell the truth whenever she's asked a question. But by the time Natalie realises what has happened to her, hypnotist Amazing Brian has disappeared. Natalie must track him down and reverse the spell before she wrecks her relationship with Olly with her brutal honesty and he calls the wedding off.

From the very beginning and through to the end, Yours Truly is laugh out loud. I couldn't wait until Natalie was hypnotised as the people who needed a few home truths clocked up and when it happened I wasn't disappointed. I was grinning, knowing what was about to happen, as Natalie's fiance asked 'How was that, then, baby?' after a bit of passion. There are lots of brilliant moments in the book when telling the truth lands poor Natalie into trouble and although I was cringing on her behalf, it was great fun.

Yours Truly is my perfect kind of chick lit; funny, lighthearted and with a bit of romance sprinkled on top. It was an absolute pleasure to read and I would urge any fans of chick lit or romantic comedies (or any other variation of the genre) to give Yours Truly a go. I can't wait to see what Kirsty writes next.

5.0 out of 5 stars Extremely funny and romantic 8 Nov 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
It's been a time since I read this book and I still have a clear memory of the scenes that made me laugh out loud. The characters were so original and well built, that they became real people. As I turned the pages without stop, I felt as if I was in the village myself, cringing with the heroine's mishaps, drooling at the hero and feeling warmth towards the village people. It made me feel warm and happy and I still smile when I think of it. It is a really good début novel and I can't wait to read more by this author.
