The song... you're so vain... is a great song, not only because of its smart lyrics, but the mystery surrounding who the song is about. Carly Simon probably didn't exactly "put it about a bit" back then, but there are people who suggest it might be Cat Stevens... it might be Mick Jagger or Warren Beatty... the object of the song (if anyone at all) remains a mystery to this day. Nevertheless, with the added bit of mystery, it is just an even better song - nothing quite like it out there. The main chorus is instantly memorable and so catchy to boot... "Well you're where you should be all the time, and when you're not you're with, some underworld spy or the wife of a close friend, wife of a close friend, and..." ha-ha-ha-ha!

It must be said that this version does not contain the 'whispered by Carly Simon name of the subject of this song', but it is clearly about me. In the original vinyl release of this catchy song, years before the DVD's and m3p's, like this download is, she whispers in the left channel, during the first chorus, my name - Mr Bus.

If you can get a copy of the original recording, keep an ear open to the double instance of sibilence during the pause after 'so'. It is defo 'Mr Bus' that is said by *her*. This is an understandable reaction by a creative and free spirit as Carly Simon is and was still, and if ever you meet *me*, and you are creative, you would probably want to capture *me*, or an essence of *me*, in some art form or another.

So far *I* have had poems, odes, limericks, sculptures, photos (glamour and black'n'white), park benches named after, plaques put up, crowds of mixed gender suitors, offers of lust and film deals for *my* life stories. *I* even have someone to type for *me* just so they can have the honour to do it for *me*. This song is one of many classics written for *me* by Bus struck fans, for example Eric Clapton wrote 'Wonderful Tonight' about *me* too. A list of other songs and books etc written and created for *me* is available on request.

Get into *me*.

Mr Bus
