Book Description

29 Jan 2008
There is a lot of bellyaching that goes along with pregnancy. This book is no different. You Know You're Pregnant When. Reflections on the Longest Nine Months of My Life is a book written by a former pregnant woman to other pregnant women. Even though every pregnancy is different, they all do have one thing in common: They can sometimes be a pain. However, within that pain, we can sometimes find commonalities that allow us to relate to each other. We're all women about to have babies and that's a big deal in and of itself. But that doesn't mean we have to take it too seriously. Because, really, pregnancy can be kind of funny. You Know You're Pregnant When. Reflections on the Longest Nine Months of My Life is the pregnancy book to buy if you want a funny look at what really happens once you find yourself pregnant.

5.0 out of 5 stars A good, funny look at pregnancy. 18 Feb 2008
Being pregnant can be a pain, mostly because this is the first time I've done it. This book really helped me in that it took away some of the doubth I had about certain things and also made me laugh--out loud--several times. It wasn't over technical and was more like talking to a good friend about the woes of pregnancy and the joys, too. I really liked it and it will be one of the few pregnacy books I recommend to friends.

I laughed a ton from the very first page! It was a great book and very accurate descriptions of a womans feelings during the not so pleasant pregnancy side effects.

2.0 out of 5 stars Very disappointing; not all that funny 17 Dec 2008
By Amazon Customer - Published on
I have to say that I was very disappointed with this book. It wasn't as funny as it was made out to be, and it wasn't any more informative as any other book on pregnancy. The author tried to make it funny by adding the phrase, "You Know You're Pregnant When" in front of every observation, and then the "observation" would be something that almost every pregnant woman in the world ever experienced. I mean, she's not the first pregnant woman to find normal pregnancy funny, nor is she the first to write a book about it.

Definitely don't buy this book if you are looking for the joys of pregnancy, and there are so many. The author takes a very negative attitude towards pregnancy and seems to capitalize upon it. There's enough negative talk about pregnancy, where's the originality in writing a book on it?

What really drove me nuts about the book is that she probably edited it herself and made so many spelling and grammar errors. On one page she meant to say, "Take a relaxing hot bath" and she said, "Take a very relaxing hot BAT." Over and over and over this happened in the book. If she did not edit it, then if she does write another book, please for the love of pregnancy, get a new editor! If those things bother you (as it does me), then this book will drive you nuts.
