More About the Author

Born in Brooklyn, New York, Robin Kaye grew up in the shadow of the Brooklyn Bridge next door to her Sicilian grandparents.

Living with an extended family that's a cross between Gilligan's Island and The Sopranos, minus the desert isle and illegal activities, explains both her comedic timing and the cast of quirky characters in her books.

She's lived in half a dozen states from Idaho to Florida, but the romance of Brooklyn has never left her heart. Robin has won numerous awards including the Golden Heart for Best Contemporary Single Title, back-to-back Holt Medallions for Best Romantic Comedy, and the Golden Leaf award for Best Single Title. She currently resides in Maryland with her husband, three children, dog, and a three-legged cat with a bad attitude.

Please check out her website at www.RobinKayeWrites.com for information on all her books, recipes, and great pictures of her haunts in and out of Brooklyn.

4.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable 24 Sep 2013

My copy of the book certainly contained 'speech tags' I am not sure why the other reviewers copy was missing them.

Enjoyable book from an author who always delivers. I have downloaded (and paid) for all her books apart from the first book, Romeo Romeo which I downloaded for free.

Great characters, good plot and just enough of a hint of who the next book might be about!!

Some explicit scenes as always but never crude and in keeping with the main two characters

3.0 out of 5 stars You're the one 28 July 2013

A family of caterers is the focus as restaurants get busy. Red Hook is a part of Brooklyn, and Skye Sinclair walks straight into a job as head cook when Logan Blaise posts a vacancy. Skye has been working in her family business but she doesn't want to get stuck as manager, she wants to run the kitchen. She hopes to prove herself without using the family name. Logan is engaged to a wealthy girl from a California vintner family, but he likes this rough, turning-gentrified neighbourhood. His ex-cop father is recovering from illness so Logan has come home to fill in; he doesn't intend staying long.

Working for a new boss is a lot better than working for her brothers, Sky realises. Maybe that's why she feels attracted to Logan who, of course, is off-limits. Logan is determined to respect boundaries with the new employee. However his fiancée Payton arrives, and she didn't know he was from Brooklyn as he'd always called it New York. Okay, Logan didn't grow up on Park Avenue, but he's not ashamed - so why hide it? Payton feels that their relationship has been based on lies.

The first two chapters are packed with dense conversations at a wedding between people we don't know yet, and the author has been to a class which insisted on using no speech tags, so it's very hard to keep track. Speech tags were invented for a reason. I quickly couldn't be bothered and picked up the story in the third chapter where Skye comes in and it gets easier to follow. Again though we have extremely lengthy conversations, I think it might be a cultural thing. The characters each have valid points of view - especially the girl who felt she'd been deceived, who is otherwise one-sided.

5.0 out of 5 stars Revisit Red Hook - You'll enjoy every moment 5 Jun 2013
By Cahm Merritt - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
The book summary was well done by other reviewers so I will just give my thoughts:

What I like about You're The One:

* The setting of Red Rock is so well written that you feel like you've been there and are returning for a visit. Having read the first book; this is definitely true for me.

* The author has you caring about the characters focused on in this novel from the first page.

* The author uses humor in all of the the right places (she breaks up the tension very well this way).

* There is enough conflict to keep the story exciting, but not so much that you get angry with the characters for the constant angst/whining that they seem unable/unwilling to resolve. (I am personally tired of that in recent reads, that is why I mention it here).

*The flow of the story is seamless, with tight editing and engaging prose.

What I didn't like:

*That I have to WAIT for the next installment of this the stories of lives of this endearing group of family and friends.

5.0 out of 5 stars Super read 5 Jun 2013

Great great story that I highly recommend to everyone. Follow the story of Logan while he learns how to love and Skye while she learns how to accept love. The only bad thing about a Robin Kaye book is that it's over too soon!!!

You're the One by Robin Kaye
Contemporary Romance -June 4th. 2013
4 stars

You're the One is part of a series revolving around the community of Red Hook, New York. Logan has worked hard to develop into the successful wine businessman he has become. But when he is needed at his family's restaurant for an emergency he drops everything and discovers that he may have a little girl her never knew about. As he struggles to bring Pop's restaurant back and find a new chef he finds unexpected love in a mysterious woman named Skye.

Skye Maxwell comes from a famous restaurant family. On her birthday she expects the keys to a new Maxwell Restaurant like all her brother. But is sadly dismayed to find she has been named a mere manager. Food runs in Skye's blood and she especially loves to cook. Disgusted with her family she decides to take a break. She wants to make it on her own -without her family name to open doors. When she finds a last minute advertising for a chef in Red Hook, she applies. And soon find herself interviewing for the job. Her food quickly gets her the job plus a place to stay! But she also finds the new manager, Logan, a big distraction. Logan is polished, charming and too good-looking. A lethal combination that she refuses to become entangled with! Plus she knows his flashy type. He also has a high maintenance, clingy, and rich fiancée. But knowing and doing are two different things. When Logan dumps his fiancée and starts purses Skye all bets are off. But what will happen when her true identity is revealed?

This was a heartwarming romance. Skye must strike out on her own and break free of the bonds and expectations of her family. She becomes a woman of true independence. But this book is really about Logan who makes drastic changes in his life. He finds real love and a daughter he can love. A new, fresh start that gives him meaning. He doesn't even realize until he comes back `home' that his life is shallow and all façade. As Logan strips himself of what he thought he wanted and what he finds is real, he opens himself to an entirely new world of love and promise. I liked that the romance between Logan and Skye felt very authentic. I could feel the intensity between them and how meeting each other changes each of their lives for the better. They are two deeply talented and worthwhile people who just need the `right' environment and acceptance to find themselves. I was very happy for them!! Plus, the food descried in the story also made me hungry. I only thought the ending was a bit predictable with the manipulative ex-fiancée.

This is a quick and breezy read that will have readers completely satisfied.

1.0 out of 5 stars Really? Four and a half stars? 13 Sep 2013

I have no idea what I am missing, but I really did not enjoy this book at all. I run hot and cold with Robin Kaye to begin with. Sometimes I really like her books (Breakfast in Bed was my fav) and sometimes they're a chore to get through - this one was a chore and a half. Much like the first full book of this series, the love story happened way too fast in my opinion. One day one of them dislikes/hates the other, the next they are professing love in a super cheesy fashion. I mean, I know romance novels aren't accurate to begin with, but come on! This guy was engaged to someone whom he'd been dating since college (years and years), dumped her, and within 3 days was professing a desire to "spend the rest of his life" with the main character.

Aside from my dislike of the main story line, I found the secondary characters of Patrice and Rocki to be irritating to the max (even more so than in the first book, which I didn't think was possible). It's a pet peeve of mine when authors overdo the "girls night" and "girl talk" thing between women who don't know each other. Skye had just met these women and they were badgering her for details that were none of their business. I don't know about you, but if two women who I didn't know let themselves into my apartment to grill me for details of my sex life, I'd be weirded out and pissed off, to say the least.

Between the irritation that is Rocki and Slater's introduction into the mix as a huge douche, I will definitely not be purchasing the third in the series. Franklyn, I am annoyed that I bought the first two and wasted my money.

5.0 out of 5 stars You're the One 5 Jun 2013

I so enjoyed Back to You by Robin Kaye that I could not wait to read You're the One, book number two in the Bad Boys of Red Hook Series. I was so excited when I received this book in the mail I danced out of the post office and could not wait to start reading it. It certainly lived up to all my expectations. Ms. Kaye has created a wonderful group of charming, delightfully compelling characters that I cannot wait to visit again. She not only has written new friends for me to enjoy but a wonderful story line that made it nearly impossible for me to put the book down. I think it goes without saying the Ms.Kaye has a faithful new fan in me. OK I've probably gushed enough but I can't say enough about how much I am loving this series and I can not wait to read the next book.

Skye Maxwell is a brilliant chef that wants nothing more than her own kitchen. She is a smart, independent woman that is going to make it and stand on her own two feet. She doesn't care if her family likes it or not. I instantly felt a connection with Skye and loved watching her make it on her own merits. This girl has what it takes to run her own kitchen.

Logan Blaise has what he thinks is the perfect life. He has a job he likes and a fiance that he thinks he's compatible with. Then he meets Skye, this woman makes Logan feel things he didn't even know existed. Skye basically threw Logan for a loop and he doesn't know what to do about. It's adorable watching this big, strong, tough guy who has been a little on the stiff side falling deeply in love for the first time in his life.

This cute, compelling couple does have a few things to work out and a few misunderstandings try to get in their way. Love, understanding, and communications can fix a lot of things though. In my opinion this book ends with one of those awww moments. It is really a sweet love story.

I so loved this book. If you love small town family romances I think you'll love this book. I know I most certainly will be looking forward to book three. Oh my I wonder what story Ms. Kaye has in store for us next, she certainly has my attention.

I was very lucky to receive an ARC to read and it has been my pleasure to share my thoughts with you about this book.
