I have no idea what I am missing, but I really did not enjoy this book at all. I run hot and cold with Robin Kaye to begin with. Sometimes I really like her books (Breakfast in Bed was my fav) and sometimes they're a chore to get through - this one was a chore and a half. Much like the first full book of this series, the love story happened way too fast in my opinion. One day one of them dislikes/hates the other, the next they are professing love in a super cheesy fashion. I mean, I know romance novels aren't accurate to begin with, but come on! This guy was engaged to someone whom he'd been dating since college (years and years), dumped her, and within 3 days was professing a desire to "spend the rest of his life" with the main character.
Aside from my dislike of the main story line, I found the secondary characters of Patrice and Rocki to be irritating to the max (even more so than in the first book, which I didn't think was possible). It's a pet peeve of mine when authors overdo the "girls night" and "girl talk" thing between women who don't know each other. Skye had just met these women and they were badgering her for details that were none of their business. I don't know about you, but if two women who I didn't know let themselves into my apartment to grill me for details of my sex life, I'd be weirded out and pissed off, to say the least.
Between the irritation that is Rocki and Slater's introduction into the mix as a huge douche, I will definitely not be purchasing the third in the series. Franklyn, I am annoyed that I bought the first two and wasted my money.
