The Rapiers are a four-piece from London, who faithfully reproduce the sound of the early sixties, in a blend of Instrumental and Vocal styles that encompass everything from the Shadows to popular T.V. The 15 Tracks on 'You're never alone with...' kick off with the frantic "The Lynch Mob Ride Again" (penned by lead guitarist Colin Pryce-Jones), through classic versions of "Lies", "Go Back to Daddy" and Micky Most's "That's Alright" (Listen to the Guitar work). The Rapiers also record a gut-wrenching version of Little Richard's "Good Golly Miss Molly" in the style of the late Screaming Lord Such. This one will grab you by the throat and slam you off the wall! The high spot of the album is, for me, the Rapiers' superb rendering of Barry Gray's Theme from "Captain Scarlet" (that's right, the puppet show). To my mind it sounds better than the original T.V. version, with superb sounds and a six-string bass ripping its way through the melody like a chainsaw. Magic! Turn it up in the car, and you could be driving an S.P.V. Listen to this album. If you love the sixties it will be pure nostalgia. If you never heard of the sixties, it's an education.
