Excellent 26 July 2011
Format:Paperback
I bought this book for my daughter who is applying for a graduate scheme at a large department store. In a large group interview each of them had to pick an item from a bag and on the spot sell it to the rest of the group without knowing anything about it. She said this book really helped her to prepare for the unexpected and be confident in presenting her item (it was furry dice!) to the rest of the room. I think being prepared and having tricks from the book helped her get over the nerves and do really well - she's got to the last round - the interview!

The book is a good reading. I was quite happy and I left confident to my assessment centre for a graduate scheme in one of blue chip companies. There, I realised that the book was written for a different (junior) audience. For example, the book states that in the group exercises you will have 15 minutes to read and prepare and 40ish to discuss. In truth, I had only 30 min to read a share document, discuss and present, which made the book's advice ineffective. As this book was written this year, so it is not matter of obsolescence, the author should have covered the type of assessment centres are going on.
