Review

'Anguish and fear have never been so much fun'

(Andy Riley, author of THE BOOK OF BUNNY SUICIDES )

'Somehow, Andre Jordan manages to make a stick figure look mournful . . . More than indulgent artistry, Jordan's doodles, buffeted by misery, dejection and angst, are tentative explorations of social and deep psychological disquiet'

(The Big Issue )

'Love, humour, religion, death and sex, all doodled by the deft hand of Andre. I challenge anyone not to smile, laugh, or have their heart melt, when they look at his drawings'

(Abby Lee, author of www.girlwithaonetrackmind.blogspot.com )

'Andre Jordan's If You're Happy and You Know It is a pretty good substitute for therapy. It is a marvellous little book that will have you laughing out loud and nodding your head in recognition. With wit and insight, he captures life in all its quirky glory. His doodles illustrate more eloquently than words the craziness of the human condition'

(Lorna Martin, writer of Grazia's CONVERSATIONS WITH MY THERAPIST column )

Praise for Andre Jordan's blog www.abeautifulrevolution.com

'This stylish journal from a prolific writer, doodler and photographer called Andre illuminates a mind recovering from depression, and brims with honesty, dry wit and a refreshing lack of schmaltz'

(Sunday Times )

'It never ceases to amaze me how much emotion Andre can convey with a few economical strokes of his pen. His doodles - always heartfelt and refreshingly honest - veer from poignant to hilarious, and often manage both at once'

(Catherine Sanderson, author of www.petiteanglaise.com )

'Your pictures speak a thousand words'

(Fan of the blog )

'I have found your site both funny and moving'

(Fan of the blog )

'I love your blog, it makes me smile'

(Fan of the blog )

5.0 out of 5 stars Deep and meaningful doodling 13 Nov 2007
Format:Hardcover
I saw this book in the Humour section of my local bookshop, which I suppose is appropriate, but rather sells it short. The fact that the book is dedicated to his therapist tells you all you need to know about Andre Jordan's doodles. Yes, there's plenty to laugh at here, but there are also some deeply moving thoughts and ideas by someone who has been obviously been down to the depths of experience and come back from it not only stronger, but able to look on the (blackly) funny side of life too. Highly recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars This charming man 11 Nov 2007
Format:Hardcover
This book will doubtless get piled up in bookshops next to Bunny Suicides and the like, but it's rather different to that; where Andre Jordan's depressed doodles score over most of the internet-derived books that are about is in their precarious balance between melancholy and dry humour, not the easiest of tricks to pull off, which lends them a quality that lingers in the mind longer than your average cartoon book. The perfect gift for the ageing Smiths fan in your life.

5.0 out of 5 stars Happy and I know it! 9 Dec 2007
Format:Hardcover
This book is wonderful! I don't know why they offer those other blog books as recommendations on this page because this book is nothing like them. It is original, fun and very profound. The author's dark sense of humour coupled with his simple and innocent yet inimitable drawing style makes it such a treat to flip through over and over. More than a few of the doodles resonated with me to my very core, dealing with love, insecurity, rejection and hope in unexpected and downright hilarious ways. I adore this book and everyone on my christmas list is getting one.
