Every imaginable convention of the 21st-century R&B diva can found in the grooves of Sunshine Anderson's debut, Your Woman. It stretches itself in a dozen different moods, reeling you in from the first notes of her signature tune, "A Little Sunshine" and manages to be melancholic, laid-back, sensual and sexy all at once. Musically, this 18-track album captures the exuberance of Anderson's first name: lush arrangements, euphoric hooks and a soaring, swooping gospel soul voice. But listen closely and things aren't as sunny as they seem. From the great funk fuelled single, "Heard It All Before" to the dreamy slow-tempo swoon of "Last Night", Anderson tracks the highs and lows of love with enough depth to sate even the most soul-addled attention span. The production by Soullife's Mike City doesn't twang and lilt like Outkast or bob and weave like Timbaland, but his chilled out beats, tentative scratches and subtle flourishes make this more than "hip background music". Although Your Woman is a little too long, this timeless effort should sit comfortably with the retro classics of the 80s and the 90s as well as albums from the likes of Lucy Pearl and Lauryn Hill. Sunshine Andersons' first single "heard it all before" emerged on the R & B scene when other contempory artists were bringing out very commercial and teen orientated tunes. This funky tune came across as a breath of fresh air. I instantly purchased the album "your woman" and was pleasantly surprised by its content. The album starts off with a promising intro, and follows with some superb tunes such as "better off";"saved the day";"lunch or dinner" which are as funky and catchy as the first single. The album continues with some mature and heart felt ballads such as "last night" and "your woman". The only downfall is the middle end of the CD as it finishes off with some titles such as "being away" that lack the high quality the other tunes possess. However, the disc ends on a promissing note with "a little sunshine". Overall, I recommend this album for all listeners who are in need of a CD that sounds real, fashionable but not commercial. I am looking forward to her Sunshines' future releases!

Sunshine Anderson debut album-Your woman is an album primarily made up of soulful and sassy ballads.These include Crazy love,Last night,Being away and the title track Your woman.There is no doubting that Sunshine Anderson has a heavenly voice and it's showcased perfectly on this album.The stand out track is the single Heard it all before but equally as good are the songs Lunch or dinner, A little sunshine and where have u been.The lyrics are delivered in a sultry,sexy soulful voice.The album begins and ends with A little sunshine this is vibrant,catchy and funky and a perfect way to open and close the album.Whoever listens 2 the album will be lulled into the mystical world of Sunshine Anderson.A definate must for R'n'B lovers and it's definately one of the best R'n'B debut albums since Sunshine's manager Macy Gray's debut album On how life is.

the other day i went out and bought erykah badu mama's gun, missy elliot's miss e... so addictive and this. and by miles sunshine anderson won. soul album of the summer and has extream potential to be soul album of the year(other good contenders for that title would be india arie and koffee brown). beautiful music, but funky at the same time. the best tracks are better off, he said she said, heard it all before, little sunshine, and where have you been. highly recomended.
