Last Christmas my parents bought me Kinect, which came with Kinect Adventures and the additional gift of Kinect Sports 1 & 2. However with age has come a certain spread, so I researched Kinect fitness games to see which one would be best for someone of my 'stature'.
I came up with Your Shape, and it's been very good for me. Admittedly there are weeks where I just can't face another gruelling workout, but the times I do work out with it, it does pay off. The first fortnight I had the game I worked out over 2,000 calories (the game displays your calorie count btw), and lost 3lbs in total. In just two weeks of using Your Shape (and also Sports 1 & 2, but they don't do as much for you).
The workouts are varied, some I like, some I hate, but you can choose what you do, so I've now learned which ones to avoid. There are games to play as well, which take your mind off the seriousness of the workouts. My personal favourite workout is one with various punches and kicks, which really forces me to move my whole body and use the space in my lounge!
Not having tried any of the other fitness games on Kinect I can't compare Your Shape to its rivals - but nearly a year on, I'm still enjoying it, and the beauty of fitness games is that they simply don't age. I can't see me buying a different fitness game for at least 3/4 years. Enjoy!
