The book of course begins with what to look out for and consider when preparing for pregnancy, from health conditions to exercise and nutrition--it even deals with what the older woman should consider.
Then follows, just as the title suggests, a guide to your pregnancy week by week. Each week or chapter concentrates on the size of your growing baby, the size of you (!), changes and developments in your baby and changes that you would experience at each stage. It also concentrates on how your actions can affect your baby's development and gives you a handy tip for each step of the way.
The book gives you a focus for each stage of the pregnancy and is incredibly enjoyable to read. You come out at the end of the 40 weeks feeling well informed and prepared as it gives consideration to your worries and fears and physical state appropriate to each stage of your pregnancy. It is particularly fun to read how large your baby is at each stage--often compared to various fruit!--and what you can expect to feel at each stage. The book gives you a kind of connection with the little life that is growing inside of you. --Helen Humphrey, Editor, UKparents online --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

"This excellent book...certainly does make the process from pregnancy to birth (and for the first month or so afterwards) much easier to cope with and understand...The sensitivity and care with which Curtis and Schuler present all information--positive, negative or neutral--remain hallmarks of this fact-packed and thick oversize paperback...Reading it provides much of the assurance of a knowledgeable 24-hour-a-day companion who can take you through the many vicissitudes of pregnancy with a firm and knowing hand. Even women who have been pregnant before will benefit from the information here--and those in their first pregnancies will find the book invaluable." "Sacramento"" Book Review", February 2012

I do think that you would need another book in addition to this one (some things you would want more detail on), but I love this book and enjoy dipping into it much more than my other books.
