Until I bought this book I had drifted for months, vaguely hoping for a different kind of life, but secretly expecting something to change without me having to do anything about it. The Pocket Life Coach was exactly what I needed to give me a push in the right direction, to really think about where I want to go in life. For me the most fun and enjoyable part of the whole book has been the vision questing, taking time to play with ideas and to imagine/visualise exactly what I want. Generally in my life I have not been very good on taking concrete action, but Carole Gaskell has managed to break the whole process down into little steps, so not only is the whole thing not too daunting, but makes you feel that you really are beginning to change your life in 10 minutes a day. My only criticism is that some of the questions she poses are a touch vague and seem to repeat earlier questions. However, despite that, I would recommend this book to anyone who finds it hard to translate their dreams into action.

Format:Paperback
This little book is a fascinating way to decide how your life is and what you need to change as well as goal setting. This is done by a series of quizzes and questions, under catergories such as spring clean your life and boost your confidence. The questions include many topics such as do you need a haircut? Do you listen more than you talk? Do you dress appropriately? What am I most happy about in my life currently? Why do these things make me happy? Full of practical exercises which are also thought-provoking.

Useful suggestions to improve one's life 28 Nov 2011
By Shalom Freedman - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
This book asks its readers to take ten minutes each day to transform their life and work. It provides a whole series of tests by which the reader is to determine where they are in the eight areas of 'the wheel of life'. Physical environment, health, Fun/ Recreation, Money,Partner- Relationship, Career, Friends-Family,Personal Growth. I believe there is much sound advice in the way she treats the problems. She makes the book more entertaining by bringing relevant interesting quotations.
To tell the truth, I did not have the patience to really follow her instructions and go through the exercises. But I did look and see a few tips that I hope may be useful for me. Here are some pieces of lead- advice given before some of the chapters.

'Use the past and present to help shape your future'
'Boost your energy and surround yourself with the right people.'
'Picture what you want, explore possibilities then be specific'
'De-clutter simplify and streamline for success'
'Freedom lies in being bold'
'Create ongoing positive relationships with yourself and others'
'The minute you begin to do what you want to do is a different kind of life' Buckminster Fuller
'The most profound relationship you will have is the one with yourself' Shirley Maclaine
'Understand your blocks and take action to move forward'
'Pay regular attention to your goals and celebrate your successes'
This work is not 'the answer to life' it in a sense is presented at but I suspect can be useful to the readers who know how to take from it wisely.
