  • Stress-test your financial decisions
  • Take advantage of legal tax breaks

Really useful 11 Oct 2010
Format:Paperback
I bought this as an update to an older version I already owned. The language is kept as simple as possible for what are sometimes quite complicated topics and there are usually examples given so you can be sure you have fully grasped the concepts. The book is really only good for about two financial years if you want the exact figures for allowances and, as one of the other reviewers pointed out, subsequent changes made by Government won't be included. Having said that, the more general advice is very sound (as you would expect from a 'WHICH?' consumer guide product), and should remain so for at least a few years. I would never go to an IFA anyway as I prefer to do my own research (and the ones I have spoken to were complete rubbish). If you did want to use an IFA it would be helpful to have read this book first so that you knew a few things beforehand and you can then make a more informed decision about their advice. The Directgov site is also a source of useful information on tax, pensions, allowances etc.

Good book 26 May 2010

Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
Lots of useful tips. Like all books of it's kind though it has to be read and acted upon quickly as it will soon be out of date, especially with a new govt. Easy to understand.

Generally good advice 19 Mar 2011
By Crispy
Format:Paperback
Good information for anyone who needs the advice on a general overhaul of their finances. I used this before setting off to sort out a few money issues. Found it very useful, especially for planning for the future. Now have a better understanding of the tax system and inflation.
Worth mentioning that the tax advice can become outdated within a couple of years. Money Saving Expert on the web is a good place to keep abreast of the latest info.
