LET US write the histories of pop music (the plural has a certain importance). A history at once oral/aural but not linear or progressive. A history that snakes and twists and turns back on itself, a history of ruptures and wrong-turnings. But let us not start with The Beatles.

Let us not speak their name.

There is a traditional historiography of popular music which in some way or ... Read more in Amazon's The Pipettes Store

the first timei heard the pipettes was on the nme chart showand this songis so catch as is was there previous song 'dirty mind'.

they are kinda like some 1960's girl groupbut sing a sort of cross between 60's and indie music. rather catchy stuff

fantastic single! 8 May 2006
By M. Lohrke - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
'your kisses are wasted on me' is everything you want in pop song: ridiculously cute vocalists, smart lyrics, crisp production, the backup vocal 'boy,' and the impossibly catchy chorus.

coming in at a succint 2:15, 'your kisses are wasted on me' is a throwback to phil spector's 60s girl groups. it's a brave move on their part, especially given today's market for overly-produced, manufactured pop. however, a great hook is still a great hook and 'your kisses are wasted on me' has hooks ad naseum. it's a fun, rousing, melodic, fists-in-the-air, quasi-feminist anthem with some nicely venemous lyrics ('boy, can't you see we're through? boy, i don't love you, you don't make me smile for awhile). sure, it falls a bit on the side of kitsch, but it's apparent the pipettes love what they do--the ladies embue 'your kisses are wasted on me' with verve, style and fun.

so throw on a mini skirt, some go-go boots, silver eye shadow and dance all night.

second song is a rip 22 Jun. 2006
By Boxodreams - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
I read about this somewhere and picked up the single. It certainly is infectious and girl-groupie but with harder drums than you might be used to hearing. It's a little choppy and primitive and English, but it's like some of the old girl-group punk back in the early 80's. Voice of the Beehive, anyone? The second cut, "Dirty Mind," however, is a COMPLETE ripoff of the B52s "Roam" riff. you don't get any points for the too obvious.
