5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Read that Goes Beyond Traditional "Boost Your Career" Manuals Out There! 2 April 2014
By Dana Kaneko - Published on
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Long have I searched for books that delve into a little bit more than resume writing or acing job interviews. These days with social media, almost everyone I know, famous or not has an account of sorts on the world wide web. It's only logical then that a book would come out on using LinkedIn - a social network for professionals and this book shows you how with simple step by step guides. I love the pictures!

The how-to steps are very well outlined and I enjoyed how candid he is at times and how he talks about his personal experiences. I just wished he compared it more with Facebook and other social networks, the author did use a lot of analogies and comparisons including borrowing household terms like "unfriend" but I suppose the intention was to retain focus on the topic. The author accomplishes the goal of gently nudging the reader into using the functionalities of LinkedIn and he even balances it out with certain no-no words of caution.

The best thing about this book is how it leads progressively towards building professional, interpersonal relationships and you can easily absorb all the information upon the first reading. I recommend this book for young men and women who are looking to start their careers through the use of social media and it even reads well for those who are seasoned entrepreneurs or private sector professionals. This book is both concise and comprehensive, I never regretted buying it and I will return to it from time to time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Inspiring Read and Call to Action for Professionals Everywhere 26 Mar. 2014

This book is excellent! I've never been savvy with LinkedIn and though I've heard the name of the social networking site I have never ventured into using it until now. The author practices what he preaches when he encourages LinkedIn users to spruce up their profiles and make it readable. I've opened up a LinkedIn account and I am taking steps little by little in boosting my credentials for the network.

The tone of the book is serious but it is written in a conversational style that is easy to relate to. I love the fact that there are lots of pictures so you will be guided in the fundamental steps of setting up an account. This book outlines the practical insights you need if you are breaking into the professional world or if you are an entrepreneur interested in making your brand more competitive. This book has a lot of heart because the author occasionally digresses to talk about his personal experiences yet he frames it in context of leveraging your talents in the context of LinkedIn usage.

I can say that the best thing about studying the use of LinkedIn through this book is that it has allowed me to really look inside myself and assess what my core competencies are. Knowing these things are essential if you want to create a positive representation of yourself on the social network. I easily give the author 5/5 stars for creating such a simple, profound treatise on setting up social media for career development.
5.0 out of 5 stars A must-have book for professionals 30 July 2015

I have been using LinkedIn for quite some time. I thought my profile was okay, but I always wondered why I only have a few connections. This book gave some tips on how to increase my connections and use LinkedIn at my advantage.
This read was really a killer. I was hooked with the “in 30 minutes or less” part of the title. I thought, what could be done in 30 minutes or less? Although I’ve already established my profile, I felt the book told me I was still a beginner at using LinkedIn. Because the book is very easy to understand, concise and direct to the point, I was able to make necessary changes in my profile.
This book is a very good resource on how to effectively advertise yourself, and promote your career and business. This is especially beneficial to people who are new to LinkedIn but of course to those who thought their profiles were okay (like me), you can benefit from this book too because the author provided a realistic approach on how to boost your visibility. I also learned the things I avoid in order to make an effective LinkedIn profile. I’m going to follow the other tips and hopefully I can increase my views and searches more. I’d say, invest in this book and boost your career.
5.0 out of 5 stars Informative book that helps boost your LinkedIn 31 July 2015

I am new to LinkedIn, and I am not very familiar on how this social media works. I made a LinkedIn profile, but I feel like there was no real approach as to how I was using it. I saw some of my friends’ profile and they were great. I also noticed that they have a large connection with other professionals and businesses.
I purchased Dominic Wolff’s Your Killer LinkedIn Profile (in 30 minutes or Less) in Amazon. I’ve read a few good reviews from other books and I think this one will be helpful for me. The book is very practical, especially to newbies. It is organized, informative, and concise. It is packed with ideas that make the book a perfect reference material for a killer LinkedIn profile. The instructions given by Wolff are easy to follow, and it encourages the readers to implement quickly. This book really amplified my confidence in connecting with potential clients.
This is definitely a great resource to people who wants to improve their career. If you are looking for a book that will support you in getting most out of your LinkedIn experience, get this book.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Go-To Guide for Mastering LinkedIn 4 April 2014
By Stephen Kaminetzky - Published on
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Reading this book has allowed me to gain a better understanding of LinkedIn. I have never been a fan of using the site because I never felt that getting involved with would pay off. The book starts with a very clear outline of the basic functions of LinkedIn and lays the different how-to steps very visually through the use of pictures. The writer uses a very conversational style and even recounts a little bit of his personal life as an entrepreneur and a traveler.

These days, social media have proliferated with all the different networking sites around from Facebook to Twitter and Pinterest and this book is a call to action to use social networking for professional purposes. I have opened a LinkedIn account just recently as a direct result of having come across this book. I find it very convenient to navigate the LinkedIn's workspace and I'm still working on my Summary section.

I work as a Principal in an elementary school and I was very surprised to encounter some colleagues whom I haven't met in a long time. I've found out that some of them have remained educators and some of them have branched out into other fields such as Research and Publishing. I found this is a very satisfying read because it addresses and anticipates all the possible issues that may come up when you are a new user of the site.

I feel that it is very balanced in many respects. It includes the "Don'ts" of using LinkedIn and divides these no-no's into personal and business categories. I would recommend this book to those fresh out of college and to people who are looking to start new careers or change jobs. The author provides a lot of practical and business insights that both the average employee, the manager and the business owner can understand.

To get into this, readers will need to be Internet savvy and have had some considerable knowledge in social networking. The authors lays out how forums have proliferated as a legitimate discussion platform across the Internet for the past decade or more.

I like how the author is very candid about his real life experiences and how he relates certain things he does in his life as a person and as an entrepreneur and he transitions easily from those to the meat of the topic. I believe the book achieves its goal in giving a streamlined presentation of the LinkedIn platform and it does so in a manner that is systematic and easy to understand.

As an educator, my interests lie in discovering the latest in pedagogy and connecting to others teachers worldwide. It helps to have a social network where people share the same professional interests as you do and as the author reveals, you can accomplish this by joining LinkedIn groups. I am very excited about what prospects LinkedIn can offer me in my career and because the author is very balanced, he also outlines how it is possible to meet your online acquaintances on the site in the real world.
