The Inner Coach is the new book from the authors of The NLP Coach. NLP master practitioner and executive coach Ian McDermott and NLP practitioner and psychotherapist Wendy Jago combine their expertise to provide a step-by step self-coaching guide. The book attempts to show us how we can make the most of all of our self once we learn how to access and harness the hidden power of our unconscious mind. Topics covered include: Approaching your inner world, getting in the right state, Building an Inner Alliance and Shaping your Reality.
Anyone who has read any of Tim Gallwey's work or Nancy Kline's Time to Think, will find familiar concepts here in terms of raising self awareness and addressing limiting beliefs, but will also discover that such concepts have been well expanded and developed.
I found this to be an easy book to read and follow. There is a good deal of food for thought contained within its pages and the self reflection exercises that appear throughout are helpful in encouraging the reader to put some ideas into action rather than simply to think about them.
Despite both authors' strong commitment to NLP, the book is free of much of the cultist hype that seems to bedevil much of the NLP literature.
The book may lean more towards a self-help title than a business book but would nevertheless provide a rich source of material for trainers and coaches looking to deepen their learning on the subject or to prepare for implementing coaching programmes.
