This 2007 newly formatted version of the book by the same main title published in 2005 is an invaluable aid to both long established gardeners in Spain and newcomers. Part of an invaluable trilogy together with 'Growing healthy fruit in Spain' 2007 and 'Growing healthy vegetables in Spain' 2006. Everything you need to know to develop a simple low maintenance garden or a complex holistic garden for self sufficiency.

I purchased this book plus both other titles authored by Clodagh and Dick Handscombe - if only I'd done so four years ago when I purchased a house and an acre of land on a hillside in Almeria about 1,000 feet up. I soon read about the mistakes I made and the hundreds of euros wasted by buying plants and shrubs that were never going to grow at that altitude, or in the locations I planted them. The books are for beginners (like me)through to more experienced gardeners.

I wouldn't go shopping or even plan what might be needed without referring to this book. We have a property 4000 feet up in the mountains of Andalucia, so it is a bit hit and miss when it comes to gardening. This book however is a fantastic guide and so easy to read.
