Product Description

Product Description

"Your First 100 Words in Pashto" comes in a paperback original. It takes the intimidation out of learning a new language. In the "Your First 100 Words In" series, readers are shown how to decipher and read a new script by learning 100 primary words in a new language. Covering the languages of Iran and Afghanistan, this new addition to the "Your First 100 Words In" series can be used by students as a supplement for their language courses, by parents as an introduction for young children, or by learners independently.

Fantastic 18 July 2011
Format:Paperback
Great easy way to learn some basic pashto- its not conversational, but a really great learning tool. husband still disagrees with some of the words, but guess in every language there are regional variations! Very fun!

You want to learn Pashto?
By this book with closed eyes. Very easy method (it reminded me my first school years) that can easily learn you to speak basic worlds in Pashto.
Of course this is just the start. If you seriously want to learn the language, speaking, reading, writing it, you must try other books too, or the CAL books.
As I said its just what its title says, ''Your first 100 words in Pashto''.
I just wish it had some conversation examples inside.
But when you finish it you will see that it will be very easy to decipher the original Pashto words and hence with the help of a dictionary, learn the language.

ho ho, 100 words of pashto 22 May 2005
By G. C JONES - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
The title is quite clear--this book will teach you 100 words/phrases of pashto. The games/puzzles/connect-the-words pages are on the one hand quite stupid but on the other hand serve as the repetition necessary to commit the words to memory. So far, my favorite word in Pashto is "ghwaa" (cow). I completed the book in 3 days. The editorial comment is wrong, Pashto is not spoken in Iran but is rather spoken in Afghanistan and parts of Pakistan. A few words but not an overwhelming number are Farsi cognates (gul, pul, darwaazah, na, paak) and there are a few English/French cognates (talvezyoon, telefoon, hottel). The reader unfamiliar with the Arabic alphabet will find the book harder, and this book can serve as an introduction to the Pashto alphabet. (Arabic emphatic letters, th, dh, etc. are not used much).

Great for beginners 30 April 2007
By Kristen Sanders - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I loved this book because it was the only thing I could find that helped me read the complicated arabic script. The flash cards are awesome. It does not have conversational Pashto, but it definitely helped with my understanding of the written language. A quick way to learn 100 words in Pashto. I recommend using this in conjunction with other Pashto learning devices.

Good backup for Rosetta Stone 29 May 2010
By WriterGirl - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
Caveat: buy this in the paperback version only if you want it to be useful as a language learning tool. If you wish a backup copy in your computer, get the Kindle version. The flashcards are vital for visual learners to reinforce learning. The transliterations are also helpful until the learner is comfortable with the alphabet.
