5.0 out of 5 stars A Brilliant Book!! 22 Nov 2004
By A Customer
Format:Paperback
A deeply thoughtfull and helpful book in so many ways, well written and presented, and including situations that we will all encounter in our lives, this book is a necessity for everyone! When i first embarked on reading this book, i thought it would solve all my problems with my family and friends and that i would be able to apply the skills i learnt from the book to my everyday life. Although this may have been a little ambitious i was surprised to find that the book helped me enourmously!!

The case studies included highlighted many relationships which i could relate to but explained them in a more rounded and sophisticated way than my own interpretation, therefore providing an objective point of view to the situation. This enabled me to take a step back from my own everyday problems and be able to deal with them in a normal and rational way AND realise that not everything has to be so dramatic!

The chapters on self esteem i found particularly interesting although this was a difficult chapter to read (I found myself stopping several times only to persevere again!!) This was what so strange about this book!! It was literally like having the author with you. An excellent book by an amazing author!

5.0 out of 5 stars Self Help Excellence 28 July 2004
By Helen
Format:Paperback
Having read a recent UK survey about self-help books, a list was made of 50 of the best. The survey said that people who use self-help books do far better in their lives than people who don't. In my view Anne Nicholls' excellent book "Is Your Family Driving You Mad?" should be added to the list. After reading her previous book "Make Love Work For You" I'm a devotee of Anne Nicholls' work. This book is just as good, offering the reader lots of useful, accessible ideas and tips for overcoming difficulties in family relationships.
"Is Your Family Driving You Mad?" is an illuminating book for anyone in any kind of relationship, but particularly where there are step-children or extended family challenges. Whether you're in a framily culture that's new to you or there are things you're finding it difficult to come to terms with in your own family, then this book should assist you in unravelling some of the complexities so that you can move forward in a positive way that makes everybody feel good. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Every home should have one 2 July 2004
Format:Paperback
What a fantastic book! A well written, insightful book with practical advice covering every eventuality of family life, including improving relations with parents; meeting the in-laws; raising children; coping with step-families; caring for elderly relatives. For every potentially tricky or downright hostile situation, sensible, mature advice is given, not only about how to deal with the present but also how to lay the foundations of a happier future. I can't think of anyone who would not benefit from this book in some way.
I wish I had read this book a long time ago: I cannot recommend it enough. Brilliant.
