Can all Christians honestly say that they are following the biblical edict to, `...lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven...'? (Matthew 6:20)

A thorough and very readable, biblical exegesis of what appears to be a largely neglected subject - the doctrine of rewards for believers at the judgement seat of Christ!

Over several chapters, Dr Lutzer describes from the Bible, the different rewards given by the Lord: clarifying their significance and stressing the importance of `running the race' and `overcoming' in this life. Dr Lutzer emphasises, '...those who trust Christ alone for their salvation are redeemed, eternally forgiven, and legally perfect.' Nevertheless, he highlights the biblical teaching that believers, although not losing their salvation, will receive the consequences of their wrongs.

'The way we live here,' he writes, 'will have eternal, unchangeable, and profound consequences.' `Rewards,' he continues, `are based on our faithfulness to opportunities presented to us since conversion.'

After the rapture, all believers will have to give an account to Christ, of their service for Him. Words, motives and actions since conversion will be tested by fire (1 Corinthians 3:15). This challenging and provocative book is a timely encouragement and a warning to evaluate our lifestyles in the light of that impending appointment.

Treasures in Heaven 26 Jun. 2003
By Theodore Illenberg - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
Erwin Lutzer writes about the judgement of Christians in Heaven. He states eventhough our salvation is sealed by the blood of Jesus, our reward is is based on our works on earth. Erwin Luttzer makes aprofound statement in that what we recieve from God is solely out of the generosity of his goodness. We recieve because God gives it to us not because we deserve it. Our reward or participation in Heaven is based on our works and deeds on earth. We enter Heaven under general admission through faith in the death and resurection of Jesus. Weither or not we sit behind the dugout or on the fifty yard line is up to us. Erwin Lutzer states that Jesus is looking for servants that serve him and one another willingly. Every good deed done in the name of Jesus is tallied in Heaven. He also states that not all deads have pure motives, but if we generally have hearts for Jesus we will be rewarded. He also states that everything belongs to God, even money. How we treat what God has given us will also effect our Judgement and rewards in heaven. In general, how we live on earth as believers will effect our position in Heaven.

Good highlight for the least known doctrine 5 Jan. 2006
By Antoine Maalouf - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
The doctrine of rewards is probably the least known among the Christian community; I myself came to know it only recently. Most people imagine heaven being a bunch of souls with a silly looking happy face in a shiny white robe singing a soprano all day long for eternity. Well, that sounds more like hell than heaven! Fortunately, the Bible teaches a whole other concept.

With this book, Pastor Lutzer tries to shed some light on this concept and explains what a faithful believer will encounter once he encounters God. You will learn that in heaven, you will be more alive than ever before. Even though we are saved for our faith (justification by faith), Christ will still judge us for every deed done in the body whether good or bad (2 Cor 5:10). Our life here on earth will decide our status in heave. Yes, status! Every believer will not have the same position in heaven: some will be rewarded more than others and some will have greater responsibilities than others. Christians don’t like to talk about this rewards concept so as to not sound materialistic, but that doesn’t change the fact that we are promised unimaginable rewards because of the love and generosity of our Father in heaven.

The author uses his exegetical skills to show us how these facts are clearly taught in the Bible, and most importantly, how to use such notions in our own lives: what we can gain, what we can lose, what Christ will be looking for, how to properly live and what to expect in the life to come.

The book is clearly written and is a great explanation of the doctrine of rewards without getting too complicated, although some ideas get repeated throughout the pages. Recommended reading!

Your Eternal Rewards 10 Aug. 2009
By Arlene B. Villarin - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
Truly amazing & has changed my life! If every believer knew that his/her eternal rewards depend on how they live in this "earth school" there life choices would be motivated to be completely under the obedience of Christ Jesus. Do you want to know what Jesus will be looking for at the Bema Seat of Christ, then this book will answer those questions. There are tears in Heaven that Jesus wipes away, find out why and how to not be ashamed to stand before Him. After all, don't we all want to hear "Good & Faithful Servant. Arlene Villarin

Fantastic! Clear, easy-to understand, and interesting. 9 Jun. 1998

This book strips away many myths and false beliefs about what happens after you die. It uses the Bible as its basis, but who would better know what the afterlife would be like than God? I highly recommend it.

Forget the Full Gospel, this is the WHOLE Gospel Truth 19 Jun. 1998
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
Finally a book that emphasizes what the Bible emphasizes (both OT & NT). Most Christians are capitalists now and expect to be communists in the future. NOT!!!! The order, according to God, is reversed. Lutzer courageously lays it on the line in a layman friendly manner (More accessible than Reign of the Servant Kings by Dillow.) Once your eyes are opened to rewards you'll be kicking yourself for not having seen it all over the pages of Scripture. This book will spark a revolution among Christians, and get them living like God intended. (Or at least it will ignite the noxious fumes of unpracticed Christianity in their outbursts against it). Read it and revive.
