As a therapist, self-improvement author, and educator I strongly recommend this wonderful book to students and clients. Dr. Dyer provides self-help advice that is not complex and very easy to apply to day-to-day situations. There are thousands of self-help books, however, I would say with no reservation that this is one of the best ones ever written. Dr. Howard Rosenthal

There are numerous books which profess to be able to change your life, or at least your perception of life. Over the past fifteen years I must have read at least sixty self improvement books but there are only a small number that I can recall reading. Most never really made an impact, they gave good advice but nothing memorable.
'Your Erroneous Zones' IS one of the ones I can remember reading. It is more than just a book of advice, it has become a reference book for when I feel I am losing control of my life to other people. It acts as a wake up call, like splashing cold water on your face in the morning. It brings you to your senses and makes you realise that you have the power and ability to control your life.
I sometimes feel a little embarassed when reading the book, because it makes me realise how weak I am and how much I need to toughen up mentally.
As I say, there are only a few self help books which have really made an impact in my life. THIS IS DEFINITELY ONE OF THEM !!
I would highly recommend this book to you.
Good luck in your future.

Due to an event that occured in my life I started realizing that I've been having a negative thinking for almost all my life. I thought so much and I googled a lot and I finally realized that I'm living in the illusion of mind. Mind creates thoughts.. none knows why but it does. Then it's up to you on how are you gonna perceive these thoughts (negative or positive aspect) abd what are you gonna do with this thoughts. This book is about this. How to start taking control of your thoughts, how to live for the moment and not for the past or the future and how to stop feeling guilt cause it's you that you act and take decisions about everything. It ends with the fact that it is your choice of wether you want to feel good or bad. It's like "choose to feel good" and this book shows you the way how to do it by making your mind looking thigs from a different view. The view of a more self-oriented perspective.
This book is definately not going to "heal" you somehow but it's a good guide on how to remember advice everytime you fall in erroneous zones or mind loops.

Very nice book.

I HIGHLY recommend this book.

I've bought lots of books from Amazon before, but this is actually the first time I leave a review, as I think that this book definately deserves it!

Instead of providing you with a quick fix, it explains how to "re-program" your thinking pattern, in a way that you will learn how to succesfully manage your negative emotions - which are caused by your thoughts.

Although I'm honestly not fond of everything in this book, I have chosen to give it 5 stars anyway, as I think that this book is the closest I'll ever get finding the "perfect" self-help book. I bought it toghether with a few other self-help books, expecting that this would only be the first step in feeling better, but after I've read it, I've realized that this is probably all I'll need to "take control of my life".

What I especially like about this book, is that it teaches you to be yourself and act on your own beliefs, regardless what other people might think of you. As I've previously been studying social dynamics, I'm very fond of this approach, as some other self-help books tend to recommend that you have to be nice to other people to win their approval, which will most likely have the opposite effect. Ofcouse it will not make other people hate you, but you'll much likely be perceived as an *** kisser, instead of getting other people to respect you. Don't get me wrong - "Your Erroneous Zones" does not recommend being an ***hole, but to stand by your own point of view, instead of seeking approval. Ironically, that is what will make you win others approval, and even more important, you'll be able to respect yourself.

I have so much more positive to say about this book, but my best advice is that you give it a shot yourself.

Best Regards
Former AFC

Having read one of the first versions of this book several years ago, my copy remains battered and re-visited, just to remind me of how it is possible to cope with ups and downs, not only my own but of those around me who may try to pull me back down. The main point of this book is that everything, yes everything, is your own responsibility - how you feel, think, relate, are - and once you are able to get your head around that, you are free to make the best of your own life and engage in its present moments to the full. Like myself, you may find yourself recommending it or lending it to friends.
