I have recently purchased, from Amazon,a book on Violins.Edited by Megan Westberg.The book is called, Your Dream Instrument.An Insiders Guide to Buying Violins,Violas,Cellos,Basses & Bows.
I am 65yrs young!&,a lover of music, playing stringed instruments, in a band for 28 years.
I have always held a facination for the violin, but never got around to learning to play one until now.Needless to say I found it a mine field of pits & falls.
I searched the web forums, which was a help,but I was getting confused by idiots professing to be the answer to the modern peoples Antonio Stradivai.Then a stroke of luck,I found the book. YOUR DREAM INSTRUMENT.By Megan Westberg. This is a fantastic book that anyone starting out MUST HAVE.It has been an absolute field of information for me,putting me on the right track. I never thought that I would ever play the violin. Thanks to this book in my library,I am now doing just that.

Insider's guide not only was detailed from the bow to the wood to choose from, you also will learn more about the string instrument you thought possible. AS a parent of a junior high schooler, we began our search for an new instrument that she could grow into and continue with into High School- I hope. Chapter after chapter I learn the importance of not only playing many instruments at once but to go back a week later and play again.
What you will learn when shopping around town is there is a big price increase after the beginner player and as the book explained clearly is not every price point will make your playing sound any better. Highly recommended.

Most of the information is included in the Strings Daily E-mails so I felt let down because nowhere did the blurb on the book make that known to the buyer . The information will be helpful for those first time buyers. There were a few good tips on bows which will be helpful.
